One or more example embodiments relates to a method for operating an x-ray facility, having an x-ray emitter arrangement with an x-ray emitter for sending out an x-ray field for examination of an examination object and an x-ray detector for receipt of x-ray radiation of the x-ray field, wherein the x-ray emitter arrangement has a mono tank for the x-ray emitter with a housing in which a radiation exit window for the x-ray radiation generated by the x-ray emitter is arranged, and a beam-forming facility for setting a desired extent and position of the x-ray field.

A method for controlling an FFS X-ray system comprises: simulating a beam geometry of the X-ray beam at a specified FFS deflection onto the detector during recording of a projection image; determining whether cross-radiation is present in a region around the detector by the simulated beam geometry of the X-ray beam; generating FFS control data for the recording of the projection image, wherein the FFS control data either (i) causes FFS deflection that is reduced relative to the specified FFS deflection for the recording of the projection image in the event of the cross-radiation being present for the recording of the projection image or (ii) causes the specified FFS deflection otherwise; repeating the simulating, the determining and the generating FFS control data for at least one further recording of a projection image; and generating a control data set including the FFS control data, for controlling an FFS X-ray system.

One or more example embodiments relates to a method for calibrating an X-ray emitter having a cathode, an anode and a coil, wherein the coil is connected to a conductor arrangement through which an electrical function current is guided through the coil. The method comprises measuring an induction current that is induced in the coil at the conductor arrangement of the coil; calculating a compensation current for an effecting coil of the X-ray emitter based on the measured induction current, the effecting coil configured to change an electron beam between the cathode and the anode, wherein the compensation current is calculated such that a magnetic field that induces the induction current during the measuring is compensated using a magnetic field that is produced by the compensation current in the effecting coil; and applying the compensation current in the effecting coil.

An x-ray tube includes an electron emitter to emit an electron beam; and a multilayer anode including a first anode layer facing the electron beam and a second anode layer facing away from the electron beam. The first anode layer includes a first anode material to generate a braking radiation via the electron beam and the second anode layer includes a second anode material to generate a further x-ray radiation via the braking radiation. The further x-ray radiation is relatively more monochromatic than the braking radiation and wherein the first anode layer and the second anode layer adjoin in a planar manner.

A method is for determining orthogonal slice image data sets of a tomosynthesis recording of an examination region. In an embodiment, the method includes recording a tomosynthesis recording and reconstructing a plurality of first slice image data sets in a first plane based upon the tomosynthesis recording; selecting a first slice image data set from the plurality of first slice image data sets; marking a microcalcification or a region of interest with a punctiform marking in the first slice image data set selected; and determining, from a second slice image data set in a second plane orthogonal to the first plane, and from a third slice image data set in a third plane orthogonal to the first plane and the second plane, wherein a point of intersection of the first plane, the second plane and the third plane includes the punctiform marking.

An embodiment is for determining a region of interest to be rendered in an ultrasound volume data set of an interior of an object under examination. In an embodiment, the method includes: determining a projection position in a two dimensional X-ray projection image of the object under examination, wherein a projection ray correlated to the projection position passes through the region of interest; and extracting a partial data set encompassed by the ultrasound volume data set using the projection position determined and based upon geometrical information relating to the X-ray 3D ultrasound unit.

An x-ray imaging system includes an x-ray source configured to emit x-ray radiation towards a sample, and a primary detector configured to detect x-ray radiation from the x-ray source passing through the sample. The x-ray imaging system also includes a secondary detector configured to detect x-ray radiation from the x-ray source scattered in the sample, and imaging optics configured to guide x-ray radiation scattered in the sample onto the secondary detector.

In an apparatus and associated method, by analyzing video images of compression of a breast of a patient in a compression unit, an actual contact-area of the tissue of the breast of the patient, which tissue is pushed onto a gauze of a compression element of the compression unit, is increased by changing a volume. As such, a pressure is increased, in at least one sub-chamber of a positioning unit integrated in the compression unit, such that the actual contact-area matches a first area, which is the maximum possible based on an outer contour of the breast.

Apparatus and method for a mammography system

A mammography installation includes a first compression device; a second compression device including an integrated X-ray detector; an X-ray emitter; a support device, arranged at the first compression device or at the second compression device, and including an integrated ultrasound transducer, the support device and the integrated ultrasound transducer being designed to be deformable so as to be adaptable to the breast of a patient, the integrated ultrasound transducer being arranged on an elastic substrate; and a breast locating region, provided between the support device and the first compression device or the second compression device that is situated opposite the first compression device or the second compression device at which the support device is arranged. The breast of the patient is positionable in the breast locating region. Further, the integrated ultrasound transducer is oriented in a direction of the breast locating region.

An imaging breast examination apparatus for medical examination of a breast includes an insertable compression plate for compressing the breast. An electric motor which is disposed outside the compression plate in the breast examination apparatus serves to generate a rotation movement. A mechanical interface transmits the rotation movement of the electric motor to the compression plate.

A method and an X-ray apparatus generate a projective X-ray representation of an examination object. Two projective images obtained from a phase contrast measurement are adapted to each other in respect of their representation format and a result image is generated by combining the adapted images. The result image allows extensive separation of different structures in the examination object that is used.
