Functional spunlaid fabrics incorporating fibers made from non-meltable polymers containing permanently one or more functional additives are provided. The fibers are entangled and interlocked to form a firm nonwoven composite, have different lengths, and aspect ratios above 1,000. The fibers have a mean diameter of 0.1 to 500 micrometres and diameter variations within a single fiber and among each other of at least 30%. The fibers contain more than 40 wt % of finely distributed functional additives in solid and/or liquid form. The spunlaid fabric is produced from a spinning solution containing the non-meltable polymer dissolved in a direct solvent and at least one functional additive. The spinning solution is extruded out of a spinneret, and the resulting strands are drawn in the longitudinal direction to form fibers, stabilized and laid down to form a nonwoven fabric with permanent functional properties. Exemplary spunlaid fabrics include clothing, technical textiles and filters.

Highly functional spunbonded fabric made from particle-containing fibres and method for producing same

The invention relates to molded cellulose bodies, in particular fibers, filaments, directly spun nonwovens, films, or foams which have flame-resistant properties. The fibers and filaments can be further processed as textiles into yarns, wovens, knitted fabrics, and nonwovens. The molded bodies are produced from solutions of cellulose and melamine cyanurate or cellulose and crosslinked or partially crosslinked melamine resin particles in an organic solvent. The melamine cyanurate or the melamine resin particles provide the molded cellulose bodies with flame-retardant properties. The molded cellulose bodies made of cellulose and melamine cyanurate or melamine resin particles can further contain flame retardants, in particular flame retardants which act synergistically, in a particulate form. The obtained textile fibers and nonwoven materials have a soft touch and can be processed or finished as filaments or yarns on conventional textile machines.

Flame-resistant molded cellulose bodies produced according to a direct dissolving method

The invention relates to a process for producing cellulosic shaped articles with stabilized inclusions in the form of a microfine dispersion of nonpolar organic compounds and mixtures by a dry-wet extrusion process. The shaped articles produced in this way exhibit by comparison with unmodified cellulose fibers a substantially increased storage capacity for nonpolar active substances. They are suitable in particular for use in textiles for clothing, industrial textiles, leisure, medicine and cosmetics. Potential functional effects imparted include the physical effect of heat storage and/or the uniform and finely meterable storage and release of nonpolar active substances and plant extracts from the interior of the fibers of the shaped articles. It is possible through a suitable choice of the nonpolar portion to produce by this process also fibers capable of absorbing liquid or gaseous nonpolar substances.

Shaped lyocell cellulose articles are provided for binding heavy metal ions and radioactive isotopes thereof. The shaped articles include one or more hexacyanoferrates that are incorporated in a cellulosic matrix and uniformly distributed therein. The shaped articles can be fibers, fibrids, fibrous nonwoven webs, granules, beads, self-supporting films, tubular films, filaments, sponges, foams or bristles. They are useful for water treatment and water decontamination, for metal beneficiation, for treatment of wound with wound dressings, for air and gas filtration and in protective apparel.
