The invention relates to a press drive for a press or a press having a press drive. The invention also relates to a method for controlling the press drive by means of a control unit. The press drive is used for moving a ram of the press in a stroke direction H between an upper return point OT and a lower return point UT. It comprises a knee lever gear having a first lever and a second lever. A connecting rod engages on the knee lever of the two levers and is connected on the other end to an eccentric of an eccentric drive. The control unit can drive the eccentric drive in a first operating mode Bor a second operating mode Bor, in particular, also a third operating mode B. In the first and the second operating modes B, B, the eccentric oscillates in a respectively different angle region W, Wabout a rotation axis D of the eccentric drive, thus resulting in different force and movement states of the ram in both operating modes.

Press drive comprising two working areas

A press drive device includes a connecting rod with input and output ends. A drive shaft mounts to rotate about a shaft axis and includes a connecting rod bearing in eccentric relation to the shaft axis. The input end mounts on the connecting rod bearing. A rotor supported by a rotor hub is arranged radially within the stator with mounting space between the shaft axis and the rotor for possibly mounting a braking device.

A press drive device () includes a connecting rod () with input () and output ends (). A drive shaft () is mounted to be rotatable about a shaft axis W and includes a connecting rod bearing () that is eccentric in relation to the shaft axis W. A drive unit () includes a driving motor () and a planetary gear set () to drive the drive shaft (). A gear output () connects to the drive shaft (), and a gear input () connects to a motor shaft (). The driving motor () includes a rotor () connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the motor shaft () via a rotor hub (). The rotor () is concentric to the motor shaft creating mounting space between the motor shaft () and the rotor () and designed to arrange a braking device () therein.

A press drive for a press includes an elbow lever drive. The elbow lever drive includes a first lever, a second lever and a connecting rod. The lengths of the two levers as well as the connecting rod are fixed. The first lever is pivotally supported on the press frame by a first support bearing. The second lever is supported on the plunger via a second support bearing. The connecting rod and the two levers are supported by an elbow joint so as to be pivotable relative to each other about a common pivot axis. The connecting rod is driven by an eccentric drive. An adjustment arrangement is provided for moving the eccentric drive relative to the press frame or respectively, the first support bearing. In this way, different operating modes can be established depending on the position of the eccentric drive along the adjustment path.
