A lead has a helix at a distal end of a rotatable shaft. Prior to implantation of the lead, the helix has a first configuration comprising an electrically active surface coated with an electrically insulative layer of a biologically dissolvable material to render the helix electrically inactive. Upon fixation of the helix into an organ, the helix has the first configuration and a pin is in electrical contact with the organ to detect proper fixation of the helix into the organ. Subsequent to fixation of the helix into the organ, the helix has a second configuration comprising an electrically active surface exposed upon dissolving of the electrically insulative layer of the biologically dissolvable material to render the helix electrically active.

A lead has an electrically controlled switch at a proximal end of a rotatable shaft. The electrically controlled switch has a first configuration to electrically connect a first electric conductor to a second electric conductor for electrically activating the pin and has a second configuration to electrically connect the first electric conductor to the rotatable shaft for electrically activating the helix. Proper fixation of the helix to an organ is determined by switching the electrically controlled switch to the first configuration to render the pin electrically active and to electrically deactivate the helix. Upon determination of proper fixation of the helix to the organ, the electrically controlled switch is switched to the second configuration to render the helix electrically active and to electrically deactivate the pin.

A lead comprises a mechanical switch at a proximal end of a rotatable shaft. The mechanical switch has a first position to electrically connect a first electric conductor to a second electric conductor for electrically activating a pin and has a second position to electrically connect the first electric conductor to the rotatable shaft for electrically activating a helix. Proper fixation of the helix to an organ is determined by inserting a stylet into the mechanical switch to render the pin electrically active and the helix electrically inactive. Upon determination of proper fixation of the helix to the organ, the stylet is removed from the mechanical switch to render the helix electrically active and the pin electrically inactive.

A medical implantable lead comprises a conduction controlling means, which at least during an initial stage after implantation is capable of rendering a first contact surface electrically inactive and which is capable of rendering the first contact surface electrically active after the initial stage. By means of the inventive lead it is possible to detect whether the helix is sufficiently screwed into the tissue or not.

A stringed instrument is equipped with an electrical conductor electrically connected to the frets mounted in the fretboard of said stringed instrument. Said stringed instrument is also equipped with a power source, light emitting members in electrical contact with the strings of the instrument (in one embodiment light emitting diodes) and electrical conductors electrically connecting together the components of the invention. By means of pressing down anyone of the strings capable of transmitting electric current against anyone of the frets capable of transmitting electric current connected to the electrical circuit comprised of said electrical components, said circuit closes and the light emitting member(s) associated with the string that is pressed down against the fret is lit. Preferably each string of the stringed instrument has at least one specific light emitting member connected to it.

A universal force measurement apparatus has a top plate onto which a first test object is mounted. The top plate is connected to a middle plate via a sliding member, for example a linear ball slide having a one dimensional degree of freedom. A first load cell is connected to the top plate and the middle plate, hereby preventing them from moving relative to one another in the direction of the degree of freedom of the sliding member. The mid plate is then connected to a second load cell which registers forces in the vertical direction. The second load cell is also connected to a base plate which is placed on a rigid surface. Forces from another object or media acting on the first test object will now be registered by the first and second load cells in the horizontal and vertical directions.

A suture sleeve for securing a medical implantable lead in position in relation to a human or animal body, has a tubular body of a resilient material defining a through bore in the longitudinal direction of the suture sleeve and being formed with one or more longitudinal spaced, circumferential suture grooves on the outside and two or more grip enhancing projections around the inner circumference of the through bore in at least an area radially inward of a suture groove. The suture sleeve is formed with two or more stiffening protuberances in the bottom along the circumference of the suture groove such that the bottom of the suture groove deviates from circular as seen in cross section. The, stiffening protuberances are positioned radially outside of the respective grip enhancing projections on the inside. A method for manufacturing such a suture sleeve is also described.

An implantable lead has a distal lead portion with at least one electrode electrically connected to a connector ring through a conductor running in a lumen of the lead. A proximal lead portion includes the connector ring, a connector pin and a connector coupling mechanically and coaxially connected to each other with the connector coupling as a bridging element. A rotational lock in the form of a circumferential element of an elastically deformable, flexible material is provided in the connector coupling in the interface between the coupling and the connector ring. This rotational lock prevents any rotation of the connector pin to be propagated into a rotation of the connector coupling and consequently reduces the risk of damages to internal lead components due to any such unintentional coupling rotation.
