A cryoprobe having a head to which cryofluid is supplied via a capillary tube. A hose serves for removal of the cryofluid, wherein the capillary tube extends through the lumen thereof. The capillary tube comprises a flexible section that is bridged by a pull element. In this manner a cryoprobe that can be handled well is obtained that can be easily and very largely bent and still transmits tensile forces for sample extraction.

Cryoprobe

A cryosurgical instrument includes a feed line for conveying fluid into an expansion chamber. The feed line has a capillary line section that terminates in the expansion chamber and forms an aperture for the fluid to undergo the Joule-Thomson effect. The flow cross-section of the feed line decreases in at least one transition section of the feed line in the form of a funnel. Following each transition section there preferably follows a step section, in which latter section the flow cross-section is preferably largely constant. The last step section is preferably formed by the capillary line section. Due to the acceleration of the fluid in the transition sections and the abating of pressure fluctuations in the capillary tube section and, optionally in the additional step sections, the expansion range in the expansion chamber is increased, without impeding the backflow of the expanded gas out of the expansion chamber.

Cryosurgical instrument

The inventive method of manufacturing a cryoprobe uses an assembly pin () for receiving a sleeve () that is to form a part of the head () of the cryoprobe and comprises three abutment surfaces () that are axially offset relative to each other, said abutment surfaces ensuring, following the attachment of the sleeve () and the nozzle () to the tube end (), the correct axial positioning of the nozzle () and the sleeve (), in particular, relative to the distal end surface () of the tube end (). Consequently, the position of the nozzle () in the expansion chamber () that formed after the sleeve () was closed and thus the function of the cryoprobe are ensured.

Cryoprobe and method of manufacturing the same

The fluid connecting system comprises a connecting piece () that consists of a single injection-molded part of plastic material, said part accommodating a coaxial first fluid conveying arrangement (), as well as an also coaxial second fluid conveying arrangement () and providing several adhesive reservoirs that allow a pressure-resistant gluing of the two fluid conveying arrangements () to each other by a reliable safe process.
