The method includes receiving indicator information indicating a processor should use a first type preamble sequence or a second type preamble sequence to generate a first preamble sequence, generating the first preamble sequence, transmitting a first request message to request network resources, the first request message including the first preamble sequence, a processor being capable of generating both the first type preamble sequence and the second type preamble sequence for the first request message to initially request network resources, receiving a feedback message from the receiver, and controlling the network data traffic based on the feedback message. The second type preamble sequence has a higher robustness against frequency impairments compared to the first type preamble sequence. The second type preamble sequence is used in high carrier frequency scenarios, within 5G networks, in case of low-cost terminals, or in ultra-reliable and low latency communication (URLLC) use cases.

Method, network node and user equipment for preamble sequence transmission and reception to control network traffic

The method includes generating a preamble sequence at a transmitter, where the transmitter is capable of generating a first type of preamble sequence and a second type of preamble sequence. The transmitter transmits a request message to a receiver to request network resources, where the request message including the preamble sequence. The transmitter receives a feedback message from the receiver. The transmitter controls the network data traffic based on the feedback message. The method further includes receiving, a receiver, a signal from the transmitter, the signal including the preamble sequence. The receiver detects the preamble sequence within the signal, where the receiver is capable of detecting a first type of preamble sequence and a second type of preamble sequence. The receiver identifies a request message within the signal based on the detected preamble sequence, and controls the network data traffic based on the identified request message.

System and method for preamble sequence transmission and reception to control network traffic

The user equipment includes a processor configured to receive a broadcast message, the broadcast message including RACH parameters. The processor transmits a first message following receipt of the broadcast message. The processor receives a second message. The processor transmits a third message, the third message including power settings based on a successful transmission of the first message, and receives a fourth message, the fourth message including contention resolution information that adjusts the RACH parameters. The user equipment decodes RACH parameters and the contention information to obtain decoded RACH parameters, and adjusts an initial transmit power of the user equipment to be a first transmit power based on the decoded RACH parameters.

An apparatus, such as a base station or a user equipment, includes a transceiver configured to receive a first signal that is a superposition of symbols transmitted concurrently by users in shared resources of an air interface. The apparatus also includes a processor configured to iteratively cancel, for the users, interference produced by the symbols transmitted by other users on the basis of log likelihood ratios (LLRs) that represent likelihoods that previous estimates of the symbols transmitted by the other users are correct. The processor is also configured to iteratively decode the symbols transmitted by the users after canceling the interference produced by the symbols transmitted by the other users.

Detecting physical random access channel (RACH) preambles is accomplished by computing a correlation power profile based on received RACH preambles, where the correlation power profile values may be sorted. A weight factor is computed for each of the correlation power profile values based on a normalized RACH detection threshold. Outlier peaks of the correlation power profile values are selected based on the weight factor. The outlier peaks to the first set of RACH signatures are mapped in order to identify a user equipment (UE) that is associated with one of the received RACH preambles. Network traffic is then controlled for network communications associated with the identified UE.
