A microscopy system includes a microscope, a stand configured to mount the microscope and including a drive device configured to move the microscope, a detection device configured to detect a spatial position of a target fastened to a body part or to an instrument, wherein the position detection device includes the target with at least one marker element and an image capture device configured to optically capture the target. The microscopy system further includes at least one control device configured to operate the microscopy system according to the detected position of the target, wherein the position detection device is configured to determine the position of the target by evaluating a two-dimensional image of the image capture device. In addition, a method for operating the microscopy system is provided.

A computer-implemented method for predicting digital images in the form of a digital fluorescence representation together with a further derived representation by means of a combined machine learning system is described. The method comprises providing a first digital image of a tissue sample that was recorded under white light by means of a microsurgical optical system with a digital image recording unit, and predicting a second digital image of the tissue sample in a fluorescence representation and a further representation, which has optical indications about diseased tissue elements. This is done by means of a previously trained combined machine learning system comprising a trained combined machine learning model for predicting the second digital image of the tissue sample in the fluorescence representation and the further representation.

Multi-task learning of white light photographs for a surgical microscope

A microscopy system for simultaneously observing fluorescent and non-fluorescent regions of an object, and a method for operating the microscopy system are provided. The microscopy system includes a microscopy optical unit configured to image an object plane through an observation beam path onto an image plane, an observation filter arrangeable in the observation beam path, two light sources, one being provided for exciting a fluorescent dye in the object and another being provided for visualizing non-fluorescent regions of the object, and a controller to control the light sources individually. With a suitable configuration of the observation filter, all light sources can be operated with a minimum operating current, which ensures the stability of the light. The color rendering of the non-fluorescent regions can be set by the individual settability of the light sources which can be set such that fluorescent and non-fluorescent regions appear to be approximately equally bright.

A method for determining a property of an object is disclosed, which includes: recording a first image of the object from a first direction; recording a second image of the object from a second direction; determining a first position in the first image, the first position representing a location of the object, and a second position in the second image, the second position representing the same location of the object, for a multiplicity of locations of the object; and calculating a value of an object property for each of the multiplicity of locations of the object. The value assigned to a location of the multiplicity of locations of the object is calculated using an intensity value at the first position, which represents the location, in the first image and an intensity value at the second position, which represents the location, in the second image.

A filter set for simultaneously observing fluorescent and non-fluorescent object regions, and an observation system and a method in which the filter set is used are disclosed. The illumination and observation light filters of the filter set each have two separate passbands with high transmission, which are spectrally defined such that illumination light outside the emission spectrum of fluorescence can pass through the illumination and observation light filters and fluorescent light is not swamped by the illumination light. The transmission of the passbands is defined such that non-fluorescent object regions can be observed substantially with color fidelity.

A microscopy system has a detection system, which is configured to detect light of a first channel in a detection region and convert it to a first fluorescent light signal, to detect light of a second channel in a second detection region and convert it to a first correction signal, and to detect light of a third channel in a third detection region and convert it to a second correction signal. The system further includes a controller, which is configured to determine an approximation value for the spatial distribution of the concentration of the fluorescent dye in an object region using the first fluorescent light signal, the first correction signal, and the second correction signal. A first part of the emission spectrum of the fluorescent dye is detected in the first detection region.

A microscopy method includes illuminating an object with illumination light, recording a first color image of the illuminated object by a color image sensor suitable for recording colors of a first gamut, producing a second color image of the object, the second color image including pixels that each have assigned a color from a second gamut, depicting the second color image by a display apparatus suitable for rendering colors of the second gamut, wherein the producing the second color image includes determining the colors at the pixels of the second color image by applying a color transfer function to the colors of the corresponding pixels of the first color image, the color transfer function mapping input colors onto output colors, and the color transfer function mapping those input colors that belong to the first gamut but not to the second gamut onto output colors that belong to the second gamut.

Microscopy method

A microscopy system and a microscopy method for recording a fluorescence image and a white-light image are disclosed. An exemplary microscopy system includes an illumination apparatus for illuminating an object region and for exciting at least one fluorescent dye, an optical unit for imaging the object region onto at least one fluorescence image detector and at least one white-light image detector. A beam splitter and a filter are arranged in the beam path provided by the optical unit and configured such that substantially only fluorescence emitted by the fluorescent dyes is incident on the fluorescence image detector and an image that is as color-neutral as possible is recorded by the white-light image detector.
