A system includes a pressure regulator including a housing, an inlet for connection to a pressurized gas comprising oxygen, and at least one energy transfer element. The system further includes a respiration facepiece including at least one seal system to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user to encompass the nose and mouth of the user, thereby creating a volume of sealing engagement between the respiration facepiece and the user, an opening into the volume of sealing engagement of the respiration facepiece in communicative connection with an interface for removable attachment of the pressure regulator to the respiration facepiece, and an inspiration port in fluid connection with the interface and in fluid connection with the volume of sealing engagement. The pressure regulator interface includes at least one cooperating energy transfer element such that energy can be transferred between the at least one energy transfer element and the at least one cooperating energy transfer element to transfer at least one of data or power into the volume of sealing engagement.

Data communication and displays for breathing apparatus facepieces and pressure regulators

A system includes a carrier system adapted to be worn by a user and to support at least one of a plurality of differently sized tanks of breathing gas, a bracket connector attached to the carrier system, and a plurality of brackets. The carrier system may, for example, be part of a breathing apparatus such as a self-contained breathing apparatus. Each of the plurality of brackets has a different configuration. Each of the plurality of brackets is attachable to an associated one of the plurality of differently sized tanks and to the bracket connector. For each one of the plurality of brackets, an assembly that includes the one of the plurality of brackets and the associated one of the plurality of differently sized tanks, when attached to the bracket connector, positions the associated one of the plurality of differently sized tanks in a predetermined manner relative to the carrier system.

Breathing apparatus with tank alignment system

A harness system includes a waist belt assembly, a first releasable retainer attached to the waist belt assembly, shoulder straps, a back plate connected to the shoulder straps, and a release system including at least a first release strap connected to and extending from the back plate. The first release strap includes at least a first releasable connector in operative connection with the first releasable retainer so that actuation of the first release strap causes disconnection of the first releasable connector from operative connection with the first releasable retainer so that the first releasable retainer becomes disconnected from connection with the back plate and the back plate can be removed by a user while the waist belt assembly remains worn by the user.

A breathing system includes a tank for pressurized breathing gas, at least one regulator comprising a connection to which the tank is attachable, a universal air connector in fluid connection with the connection, and at least one light source, the light source, when illuminated, providing a guide to connect a connector in fluid connection with a secondary tank to the universal air connector to supply breathing gas to the tank.

A respiration system includes a pressure regulator including a housing, an inlet for connection to a pressurized gas comprising oxygen, and a first data communication system, and a respiration facepiece including an interface to which the pressure regulator is removably attachable, at least one seal system to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user to encompass the nose and mouth of a wearer; an inspiration port in fluid connection with the pressure regulator interface and in fluid connection with the interior of the facepiece and at least one display within a volume of sealing engagement with the face of the user that is within the field of view of the user. The pressure regulator interface includes a second data communication system to receive data from the first data communication system to control the at least one display. A sealing attachment may, for example, be formed between the pressure regulator and the interface of the facepiece.

A respiration system includes a regulator including an inlet for connection to a source of pressurized gas and an outlet for delivery of the gas to the user, and a respiration facepiece for use in connection with the regulator including an interface removably attachable to the regulator, at least one seal system adapted to form a sealing engagement with the face of a user, an inhalation port in fluid connection with the regulator interface and with the facepiece interior, an inhalation check valve in fluid connection between the inhalation port and the facepiece interior; an exhalation port in fluid connection with the facepiece; an exhalation check valve in fluid connection with the exhalation port; and an ambient port separate from the inhalation port and from the exhalation port, which is in fluid connection with the facepiece interior without an intervening check valve.
