The present invention belongs to the area of body odour modelling. In particular, the developed synthetic compositions of the present invention reconstitute human body odours, especially those arising from axillary perspiration. The use of the compositions herein allows for the evaluation of malodour masking effects of fragrant compositions in the field of personal care or homecare products and cosmetic product development.

Suggested is a device for assessing the sillage of fragrance materials, comprising or consisting of the following parts: (i) an evaluation tube () that is open on both ends; (ii) a ventilation system (); (iii) at least two lockable sniffing ports (. . . ); (iv) a sample port (); (v) a sample plate () and optionally (vi) a sample holder () whereby (a) said evaluation tube () is aligned horizontally and equipped with said at least two sniffing ports () and said sample port (); (b) the front opening of said evaluation tube () is equipped with said ventilation system (); (c) at least one sniffing port () is located in the front section and at least one sniffing port () is located in the rear section of said evaluation tube (); (d) said sample port () is located within the front section of said evaluation tube (); and (e) said sample port () has a diameter allowing to introduce either the sample plate () or the sample holder () into the evaluation tube ().

Device for assessing the sillage of fragrance materials

Norlimbanol in general and particularly its isomer mixture Timberol&#xae;, an amber-woody fragrance, is able to specifically inhibit the trimethylamine-induced h TAAR5 activation up to 96%. Moreover, human psychophysical data showed that the presence of Timberol&#xae; increases the olfactory detection threshold for the characteristic fishy odor of trimethylamine by almost one order of magnitude.
