A sensing module for monitoring dosage delivery of a vaporized material, and a portable vaporization unit including the sensing module, include a light sensor that detects disruptions in a light path across a vapor channel, the disruptions caused by the vaporized material flowing through the vapor channel. The light sensor includes a UV light source, which may emit 370 nm wavelength light, and a UV light detector that converts intensity of incident light in the light path into a signal. A microprocessor of the sensing module compares the signal to a baseline measurement to determine the concentration of a medicament in the vapor; then, using the flow rate and activation time of the device, the microprocessor determines the dosage and can perform monitoring and reporting actions based on the dosage. A measuring circuit measures fluctuations in resistance/impedance of a vaporization element to further determine flow rate and/or dosage.

Systems and methods for training people to a modified gait or posture

Guidewires useful for cooperating with catheters may be actively steered and/or provide adjustable stiffness. Angle or curvature of a guidewire, and/or flexural modulus of a guidewire, may be adjusted at one or more locations between ends thereof. Variable stiffness segments may include electrically operated compressible and/or extensible materials. Multiple tensile elements may terminate at different body elements to adjust angle or curvature at multiple locations. Multiple circumferentially and/or radially contractible fiber regions may be provided and distributed over a length of a guidewire. Adjustable flexure elements arranged in or along a guidewire may be electrically operated. A flexible core member may be centrally arranged in a tubular body. A flexible guide wire or track may cooperate with electrically operable motor units.

Soft robotic haptic interface with variable stiffness for rehabilitation of sensorimotor hand function

The invention relates to human limb and joint movement pattern detection and analysis and is directed to warning systems for repetitive motion injuries and methods for warning a subject of movements at increased risk for repetitive use injuries, for example, using the warning systems. The invention tracks limb and joint movement of a subject during repetitive motion activities and can signal the subject to perform ergonomically safe movements.

Repetitive motion injury warning system and method

Systems and methods are described for enhancing sensorimotor learning using EEG decoding and closed-loop neuromodulation. A plurality of EEG electrodes and a plurality of stimulation electrodes are coupled to a learning subject. An output device of an adaptive learning system provides a sequence of instructions to the learning subject for performing a sensorimotor task in accordance with a defined learning schedule. The defined learning schedule is adjusted based on a monitored EEG signal while performing the task and, in some implementations, a neuromodulation stimulus signal is applied to the learning subject that is designed to cause the monitored EEG signal of the learning subject to approach at least one target EEG signal parameter.

EEG-based decoding and closed-loop neuromodulation system for assessing and enhancing sensorimotor learning

Methods and systems are presented for kinematic tracking and assessment of upper extremity function of a patient. A sequence of 2D images is captured by one or more cameras of a patient performing an upper extremity function assessment tasks. The captured images are processed to separately track body movements in 3D space, hand movements, and object movements. The hand movements are tracked by adjusting a position, orientation, and finger positions of a three-dimensional virtual model of a hand to match the hand in each 2D image. Based on the tracked movement data, the system is able to identify specific aspects of upper extremity function that exhibit impairment instead of providing only a generalized indication of upper extremity impairment.

Computer-vision-based clinical assessment of upper extremity function

A device for providing cutaneous sensations to a fingertip includes a lower base, an upper platform positioned over and mechanically connected to the lower base, and a shear plate positioned between the lower base and the upper platform and mechanically connected to the lower base. When a fingertip is positioned between the upper platform and the lower base, the upper platform is selectively vertically translatable relative to the lower base to provide a compressive force, and the shear plate is selectively laterally translatable relative to the lower base to provide a shear force. Accordingly, a wearable fingertip device having two degrees-of-freedom (DoF) to provide consecutive and/or concurrent compressive force and/or shear force to a fingertip is provided. The wearable fingertip device can be used in various scenarios; is portable, easily wearable, and easily manufacturable; and has low overall operating power requirements.
