The invention relates to a steering system for an agricultural or industrial utility vehicle, especially for a tractor. An electric drive () is provided for each half of an axle, preferably a front axle (), of the utility vehicle (). Said electric drive can be driven by at least one wheel () associated with the each axle half. The electric drive () can be controlled in such a manner that predetermined torque can be transmitted from the electric drive () to the wheel () which is being driven. Preferably, the wheels () associated with a mechanical drive axle, particularly a rear axle () of the utility vehicle (), can be driven by a mechanical drive () of the utility vehicle (). The invention also relates to a method for operating a steering system. The aim of the invention is to enable traction forces to be transmitted by wheels () driven by the electric drives (), even when the utility vehicle () negotiates bends, whereby particular braking torque should be prevented on said wheels () in specific steering angles. The torque which is to be transmitted to the wheel on the outside of the bend is greater that the torque which is to be transmitted to the wheel on the inside of the wheel in order to support or effect the steering of the utility vehicle.

Steering system for an agricultural or industrial utility vehicle and method for operating a steering system

A drive assembly for an agricultural machine. A power take off (PTO) output shaft is connected to a driving motor for driving an attachment. A drive transmission is positioned between and interconnects the driving motor and the support wheels of the agricultural machine. An input device is connected to an electronic control unit. A sensor senses the torque transferred between an attachment and the PTO output shaft, and an actuator is configured to change the transmission ratio of the drive transmission, thereby setting the propulsion speed of the agricultural machine such that the torque transferred between the PTO output shaft and an attachment does not exceed a pre-determined value. The electronic control unit further receives data from the input device and calculates a pre-determined value based on the data received, and thereafter controls the actuator accordingly.

An assembly for the selection of the gear ratio of a power take-off shaft gearbox for the drive of a power take-off shaft output of an agricultural vehicle including an actuator for selecting between one of a plurality of gear ratios and a neutral condition. A first input assembly is positioned within an operator's station and is connected to a control assembly for controlling the actuator to allow an operator to select one of the plurality of gear ratios for the power take-off shaft gearbox. A second input assembly is also connected to the control assembly and allows an operator to select one of the plurality of gear ratios for the power take-off shaft gearbox. The present invention relates to a method for the control of a gearbox arrangement with which a torque generated by an engine is transmitted to a drive axle of a vehicle. The gearbox arrangement includes a power shift gearbox and a drive clutch. During a shift process of the power shift gearbox, the drive clutch is disengaged at least partially so that a remaining torque is transmitted from the engine to the drive axle at an almost unchanged operating condition of the engine.

Method for the control of a gearbox arrangement

A vehicle transmission transmits torque from an engine to a drive axle and includes a power shift transmission and a reverser module. A control system and method automatically partially disengages the reverser module during a shift of the power shift transmission with nearly no effect upon the operating condition of the engine, so that a portion of the torque generated by the engine continues to be transmitted at all times to the drive axle.

A PTO clutch of an agricultural vehicle connects an input driveline to an output driveline for coupling to an attached implement. A method and system for controlling the PTO clutch includes sensors for sensing rotational speeds on both sides of the clutch. Clutch slip is determined from the sensed speeds. A controller receives an actual slip signal and a desired slip signal and controls pressure in the clutch to maintain a constant desired clutch slip in order to avoid overload conditions. The torque transmitted by the clutch is determined as a function of the slip in the clutch and the clutch pressure, and a signal representing this torque is displayed to an operator.
