An apparatus for producing constrained medical image data, the apparatus including processing circuitry configured to: receive medical image data that includes or is obtained from scan data representing an anatomical region in which a sub-region is enhanced; predict, using a trained model, mask data from the medical imaging data, wherein the mask data is representative of the anatomical region without enhancement of the sub-region; and predict, using the trained model or a further trained model, subtraction data from the same medical image data, the subtraction data being representative of the same anatomical region, and the processing circuitry being further configured to apply at least one constraint to obtain constrained subtraction data.

Method and apparatus for producing contrained medical image data

A medical image processing apparatus comprises processing circuitry configured to: obtain a three-dimensional (3D) image that is representative of an anatomical region of a subject; acquire a stream of two-dimensional images that are representative of the anatomical region of the subject; set a first rendering direction by performing a 2D/3D registration procedure in respect of the 3D image and a 2D image of the stream of 2D images; generate a first rendered image from the 3D image based on the first rendering direction; and for each of a plurality of subsequent 2D images of the stream of 2D images, determine whether a condition is satisfied, the condition being dependent on at least one of a 2D misalignment and a time since last 2D/3D registration procedure; when the registration condition is satisfied, select one of the subsequent 2D images; reset the rendering direction to obtain a second rendering direction by performing a 2D/3D registration procedure in respect of the 3D image and the selected 2D image; and regenerate a second rendered image from the 3D image based on the second rendering direction.

A navigation apparatus for assisting navigation of a device through tissue comprises processing circuitry configured to receive volumetric medical imaging data representative of an anatomical region, the anatomical region comprising a region of tissue to be traversed by a device; process the volumetric medical imaging data to identify different types of tissue in the region of tissue; determine a position of the device; and process the volumetric medical imaging data to obtain a virtual endoscopic view of at least part of the region of tissue, the virtual endoscopic view comprising a virtual representation of the device in its determined position; wherein the virtual endoscopic view is rendered such as to visually distinguish the identified different types of tissue, thereby assisting navigation of the device through the region of tissue.
