A pressure swing adsorption process (PSA) comprising the following steps: feeding an input gas containing H, COand impurities through a COadsorbent material in a pressure vessel under a high pressure; withdrawing a first H-rich product gas due to adsorption of COin the adsorbent material; setting the pressure to an intermediate pressure causing the adsorbent material to release a second gas stream; passing a CO-rich purge stream through the adsorbent material, obtaining a purge gas; setting the pressure to a sub-atmospheric low pressure, so that a CO-rich product gas is released under vacuum by the adsorbent material; re-pressurizing the vessel to said high pressure; said steps being performed cyclically in a pressure vessel or in a plurality of parallel pressure vessels of a multiple vessel setup.

Pressure swing adsorption process for producing hydrogen and carbon dioxide

A temperature swing adsorption process for removing a target component from a gaseous mixture containing water and at least one side component, said process comprising: (a) at least one adsorption step, providing a target component-loaded adsorbent and at least one waste stream depleted of the target component; (b) a desorption step, comprising heating of the loaded adsorbent to a desorption temperature and providing a first output stream containing the desorbed target component; (c) a conditioning step; (d) at least one target component-releasing releasing step bringing the solid adsorbent to a temperature lower than said desorption temperature and providing at least one second output stream containing an amount of the target component and containing water; (e) separating water from said second output stream(s) and (f) subjecting the so obtained water-depleted stream(s) to said adsorption step or to at least one of said adsorption steps.

Temperature-swing adsoroption process

A temperature swing adsorption process for removing a target component from a gaseous mixture, the process being carried out in a plurality of reactors, wherein each reactor performs: (a) adsorption of the target component providing a loaded adsorbent and a waste stream; (b) heating of the loaded adsorbent and desorption of target component, providing an output stream; (c) cooling of the adsorbent; a rinse step (a1) before the heating (b), wherein the loaded adsorbent is contacted with a rinse stream containing the target component, producing a purge stream depleted of the target component; a purge step (b1) before the cooling (c), wherein the adsorbent is contacted with the purge stream provided by another reactor while performing the rinse step (a1), thus producing an output stream containing the target component, wherein the rinse stream comprises at least a portion of the output stream provided by another reactor while performing the purge step (b1).

Temperature-swing adsorption process

A temperature swing adsorption process for removing a target component from a gaseous mixture containing at least one side component besides the target component, said process being carried out in at least one reactor performing the following steps: an adsorption step (a), wherein an input stream of said gaseous mixture is contacted with a solid adsorbent selective for said target component, producing a first waste stream depleted of the target component; a heating step (b) for regeneration of the loaded adsorbent providing a first output stream containing the target component; a cooling step (c) of the regenerated adsorbent, said process also comprising: i) a preliminary heating step (a) before said heating step (b), wherein a gaseous product containing said at least one side component is released from the adsorbent; ii) recycle of said gaseous product to a further adsorption step (a).

A temperature swing adsorption (TSA) process for removing a target component from a gaseous mixture, where the process is carried out in a plurality of reactors. Each reactor performs the following steps: an adsorption step wherein an input stream of said gaseous mixture is contacted with a solid adsorbent selective for said target component, producing a first waste stream depleted of the target component; a heating step for regeneration of the loaded adsorbent providing a first output stream containing the target component; and a cooling step of the regenerated adsorbent.

The present invention is concerned with providing refined plant isolates that can be used as starting materials for the production of functional food ingredients, such as taste enhancers, through an isolation process that employs ion exclusion chromatography. More particularly, the present invention provides a refined plant isolate comprising at least 30% by weight of dry matter of water soluble plant components selected from fructose, glucose, proteinaceous matter of plant origin, acids and potassium, said isolate further being characterized in that at a concentration of 40&#xb0; Brix the isolate: &#x2022;contains at least 0.3 wt % of glutamate; &#x2022;contains at least 500 ppm of K; &#x2022;contains less than 300 ppm of Ca; &#x2022;contains less than 700 ppm of Mg; &#x2022;contains less than 1 wt. % of components capable of passing an ultra filtration membrane having a molecular weight cut off of 250 kDa; wherein the concentration ratio ([Ca]+[Mg])/[K] does not exceed 5:100, each of said cation concentrations being expressed in ppm.

Refined plant isolates and process for the manufacture of a functional food ingredient from such plant isolate

The invention provides an efficient method for producing a high quality umami-active tomato fraction, said process comprising the steps of: a. providing a tomato serum; b. separating the tomato serum into two or more portions, including a lycopene-depleted portion and a lycopene-enriched portion; c. concentrating the lycopene-depleted portion to at least 10&#xb0; Brix; d. chromatographically fractionating the concentrated lycopene-depleted portion into two or more fractions, including a crude umami fraction with a weight ratio glutamate:monosaccharide of X and a monosaccharide fraction with a weight ratio glutamate:monosaccharide of Y, wherein the ratio X:Y exceeds 20; e. optionally, concentrating the crude umami fraction; f. chromatographically fractionating the crude umami fraction into two or more fractions, including a clean umami fraction with a weight ratio glutamate:citrate of K and a citrate fraction with a weight ratio glutamate:citrate of L, wherein the ratio K:L exceeds 10. The invention further relates to a tomato isolate comprising glutamate, aspartate and sucrose; wherein the weight ratio glutamate:citrate exceeds 2 and wherein glutamate, 5'-AMP, aspartate and pyroglutamate together represent at least 15 wt. % of the dry matter contained in the tomato isolate.

Umami-active tomato fraction

Disclosed is a method for producing at least one chemical reaction product by chemically reacting one or several reactants that is/are optionally dissolved in one or several solvents and is/are supplied as a feed stream by bringing the same in contact with a heterogeneous catalyst in a continuously operated fixed-bed reactor which is filled with a particle bed, a continuous annular chromatograph (CAC) that is filled with the particle bed being used as a fixed-bed reaction in which the at least one reaction product is formed and purified while the at least one purified reaction product as well as optionally provided secondary products and/or non-reacted reactants are withdrawn at a different, predetermined azimuthal position of the annular chromatograph, respectively. The inventive method is characterized in that only one type of particle material is used in a single particle bed as both a formation catalyst and a chromatographic medium for purifying the at least one reaction product in the particle bed.
