In accordance with an embodiment, a hard disk drive includes voice coil motors (VCMs) coupled to respective control units configured to drive retract an operation of the VCMs in the hard disk drive. The retract operation of the VCMs includes a sequence of retract steps. The control units are allotted respective time slots for communication over a communication line with the respective time slots synchronized via the common clock line, and are configured to drive sequences of retract steps of the VCMs in the hard disk drive in a timed relationship.

A stepwise voltage ramp generator includes a tank capacitor, a terminal of which is coupled to a reference potential to be charged with a voltage ramp. The present invention relates to a catalytic composition which comprises a beta zeolite, a metal of group VIII, a metal of group VI B and optionally one or more oxides as carrier. The catalytic system of the present invention can be used for the hydrotreating of hydrocarbon mixtures and more specifically in the upgrading of hydrocarbon mixtures having boiling ranges within the range of 35&#xb0; to 250&#xb0; C., containing sulfur impurities, i.e. in hydrodesulfuration with contemporaneous skeleton isomerization and a reduced hydrogenation degree of olefins contained in said hydrocarbon mixtures, the whole process being carried out in a single step.

The method controls a charge pump generator having at least an output tank capacitor on which a regulated output voltage of the generator is produced, and a pump capacitor that is connected to a supply node and to ground during charge phases and is coupled in an anti-parallel configuration to the output tank capacitor during charge transfer phases, alternated to the charge phases. The method limits the current absorbed from the supply because the transfer capacitor is charged during at least an initial charge phase with a constant charge current of a pre-established value.

The electric charge transferred in a charge transfer phase from the pump capacitor to the tank capacitor is diminished by reducing the amplitude of the voltage swing on the transfer capacitor proportionally to the current to be supplied. This is done by limiting the maximum voltage on the pump capacitor to a certain value. This maximum value is calculated to make the voltage on the transfer capacitor reach a certain minimum voltage at the end of the charge transfer phase. A charge pump generator includes a driving circuit that isolates the pump capacitor when the voltage on it reaches the maximum value.

A method for designing a new prunable S-random interleaver class to be used as a constituent part of turbo codes. With respect to previously proposed solutions the method has the advantage of being prunable to different block sizes while exhibiting at the same time, for any considered block size, performance comparable with the optimized 'ad hoc' S-random interleavers. Another advantage is that, as for every S-random interleaver, the design rules are independent of the constituent codes and of the puncturing rate applied to the turbo code. Therefore, these interleavers potentially can find applications in any turbo code scheme that requires interleaver size flexibility and code rate versatility, thanks to the advantage of requiring a single law storage (i e., one ROM storage instead of several ROMs) from which all the others are obtained by pruning, without compromising the overall error rate performance.

A process is described for the upgrading of hydrocarbon mixtures which boil within the naphtha range containing sulfur impurities, i.e. a hydrodesulfuration process with contemporaneous skeleton isomerization and reduced hydrogenation degree of the olefins contained in said hydrocarbon mixtures, the whole process being carried out in a single step. The process is carried out in the presence of a catalytic system comprising a metal of group VI B, a metal of group VIII and a carrier of acid nature consisting of a mesoporous silico-alumina.
