A measurement device for measuring a flow distribution of a liquid spray stream which has been atomized by a nozzle may comprise: a sensing wire; at least one further sensing wire; an electric power supply; a measurement unit; and a second grid of parallel sensing wires. The sensing wires may be positioned within a spray volume of the liquid spray stream and arranged in parallel with respect to each other to form grids of parallel sensing wires. The electric power supply unit may supply an electric current to the sensing wires. The measurement unit may measure an ohmic resistance change of the sensing wires. The first axis defined by the parallel sensing wires of the first grid and a second axis defined by the parallel additional sensing wires of the second grid may enclose a slanted angle.

Flow distribution measurement of a liquid spray stream

A valve assembly for a fluid injection valve has a longitudinal axis and includes a valve seat and a valve disc. The valve seat has an orifice that is laterally offset from the longitudinal axis. The valve disc has a fluid passage which, in a first angular position of the valve disc, is positioned in such fashion that it overlaps the orifice at an interface of the valve disc and the valve seat to establish a fluid path through the valve disc and the valve seat for dispensing fluid from the valve assembly. The valve disc is rotatable around the longitudinal axis with respect to the valve seat from the first angular position to a second angular position, wherein the valve seat and the valve disc mechanically interact to seal the orifice in the second angular position.

An electromagnetic actuator assembly for a fluid injection valve includes a first coil and a second coil, which are configured for moving an armature, and an electrical connection circuit for connecting the first and second coils to a power supply. The electrical connection circuit is configured to energize the first coil without energizing the second coil in a first operating mode of the actuator assembly and to energize both the first coil and the second coil in a second operating mode of the actuator assembly.

Electromagnetic actuator assembly for a fluid injection valve and method for operating a fluid injection valve

A nozzle body for a fluid injection includes a cavity and a bottom wall delimiting the cavity at a fluid outlet end. The bottom wall is perforated by an injection hole having an inlet opening at an inner surface of the bottom wall and an outlet opening at an outer surface of the bottom wall. The outlet opening has an elongated slit shape having a centerline which is a circular arc with respect to the longitudinal axis. The inlet opening is spaced apart from the longitudinal axis by a radial distance. The inner surface has a concave shape extending away from the fluid outlet end from an apex of the inner surface. Further, the inlet opening is spaced apart from the apex by an axial distance that is smaller than said radial distance.

A fuel injector has a housing with a central longitudinal axis having a first cavity and may be coupled to a fuel rail having a fluid inlet portion and outlet portion. The fuel injector has a valve needle arranged at least partly within the housing axially movable in the first cavity facing the fluid outlet portion, the valve needle preventing a fluid flow through the fluid outlet portion in a closing position and releasing it through the fluid outlet portion in further positions. The fuel injector has a spring arranged within the first cavity for exerting a spring force on the valve needle along the central longitudinal axis for preventing the fluid flow through the fluid outlet portion. Additionally, the fuel injector has an adjusting element for adjusting an axial position regarding the central longitudinal axis of a spring rest depending on a pressure acting on the adjusting element.
