An integrated circuit having a passive circuit component that can be adjusted following the manufacturing process to provide a precise absolute value for resistance or capacitance. A plurality of passive elements are selectively combinable using logic gates to include or exclude each element from a network, wherein the combined value of the included passive elements equals the value of the passive circuit component. The logic gates are set by outputs from a decoder to reduce the required inputs to the chip.

An integrated circuit has at least one input terminal and at least one output terminal, respectively, for receiving and transmitting digital and/or analog signals, being associated with discrete circuit portions of the integrated circuit which implement different logic functions. Advantageously, such terminals are coincident with a single pin, and an electronic circuit is arranged within the integrated circuit to detect the logic state of the pin.

A drive circuit having two electronic switches formed from N-MOS transistors is designed to alternatively connect the input of a preamplifier stage to a first or second read sensor on the read head of a magnetic tape. A circuit for suppressing the noise produced by the switching of two voltage sources having a direct current offset and connected alternately to the input of an amplification stage. The circuit comprises a low-pass filter between the two voltage sources and the amplification stage, which filter is normally disabled during normal operation of the amplification stage, and is only enabled during switching of the two voltage sources, so as to enable a gradual change in the direct voltage supplied to the input of the amplification stage and due to the offset between the two sources.

An integrated analog circuit having a circuit topology and intrinsic characteristics which may be selected by digital control means is formed by batteries of similar circuit components arranged substantially in parallel or in a matrix array, anyone of which may be isolated or not by means of a dedicated integrated switch and by alternative interconnection paths among the different circuit components and/or batteries of circuit components, which may be also be selected by closing a relative integrated switch. A dedicated nonvolatile memory, integrated on the same chip may be permanently programmed and determine a certain configuration of all the integrated switches thus selected a particlar component or more components of each of said batteries of functionally similar components, and/or selecting a certain interconnection path among the different circuit components in order to form a functional integrated circuit having the desired topology and intrinsic characteristics. The integrated nonvolatile memory is programmed by means of a software program which may take as input data the desired values of the different parameters which determine the intrinsic characteristics of the functional analog circuit and the type of functional analog circuit itself.
