A method and device for reducing voltage loads of semiconductor components of an inverter. The method includes: ascertaining a request to charge a battery of an electric system including the battery, the inverter, and an electric machine. The inverter including a series connection including a first and a second semiconductor component, and being configured to convert a direct voltage provided by the battery into an alternating voltage for the electric machine, and adapt a gate voltage of the first semiconductor component and/or of the second semiconductor component to interrupt a current flow between the battery and the electric machine during the charging. A voltage load of a gate oxide layer of the semiconductor components is reduced by decreasing the gate voltages of the first semiconductor component and of the second semiconductor component and/or a voltage load of a drain-source path of the semiconductor components being matched to one another.

Method and device for reducing voltage loads of semiconductor components of an inverter

A method for operating an output stage for a piezoactuator includes checking, during an operating phase, in response to the undershooting of a current for the piezoactuator below a setpoint current, whether a point in time for the undershooting lies outside or within a time window. A subsequent current pulse is controlled via the setpoint current if the point in time is located outside the time window, and the subsequent current pulse is controlled via a turn-on time if the point in time is located within the time window.

A controllable switch is driven to interrupt the charging current when the charging current exceeds a predetermined charging-current threshold. The charging-current threshold is altered while the capacitive element is being charged to the predefined charging voltage. The controllable switch is driven again for coupling the charging current into the capacitive element if a predefined period of time after a previous activation of the controllable switch has elapsed, and/or in case the charging current drops below the predetermined charging-current threshold. A discharging process is carried out correspondingly.

A first measuring shunt connected in series to the piezoelectric element is provided. The two transistors and the second measuring shunt are connected in series.

In an internal combustion engine, fuel is injected directly into a combustion chamber by an injector that has a piezoactuator. An electrical charge conveyed to and/or removed from the piezoactuator is ascertained by a method that is calibrated at least once during an operating time span of the internal combustion engine. To allow the calibration to be carried out or performed as often as possible, the method for ascertaining the electrical charge transferred to and/or removed from the piezoactuator may be calibrated during at least one triggering off-time (dtK) of the piezoactuator while the internal combustion engine is operating.
