A sealing assembly comprises a first annular shield presenting an axial sleeve portion for the mounting angularly integral with one of said members, and a flange portion which radially extends from a first end of the sleeve portion, and a sealing member made of elastomeric material presenting an annular root portion, which overhangingly and radially extends from a peripheral edge of the flange portion and a first axially sealing annular lip, as well as a second radially sealing annular lip. The lips extend overhangingly and axially on the opposite side of the first end of the sleeve portion, from a same side as a thinned end of the root portion and are reciprocally and divergingly arranged to form in radial section a V-shape having a vertex facing towards the root portion and an axis parallel to the sleeve portion.

Annular sealing assembly, in particular for wheel hubs

One end of a resilient sleeve is fitted on a tubular projection of the bell of a constant velocity joint. The sleeve covers a radial slot formed in the projections and the arms of a spring locking ring for axially removably securing the joint bell to a toothed driving ring fixed on a rotatable hub. The other end of the sleeve has a radially inwardly projecting flange which is sealingly axially clamped against a rigid annular part secured to or integral with the hub.

Sealing arrangement between a constant velocity joint and a hub bearing unit of a motor vehicle wheel

A constant velocity joint has an outer bell telescopically coupled for rotation with a rotatable hub of a hub bearing unit so as to provide torque transmission thereto. The joint bell is releasably axially coupled to a rotatable member of the hub bearing unit by an annular connector. The connector includes a radially inwardly extending annular flange axially clamped against a rigid annular part fixed to or integral with the hub, and a radially outer portion extending axially around a cylindrical surface of the joint bell. This outer portion has a resiliently radially expansible section with one or more radially inwardly extending protrusions providing a snap connection with a relief or recess formed on the cylindrical outer surface of the joint.

Axial coupling of a constant velocity joint to a hub bearing unit of a motor vehicle wheel

A bearing unit comprises a radially outer stationary race () and a pair of radially inner rotatable half-races (). An intermediate annular chamber () is defined between the outer race () and the inner half-races. The intermediate chamber communicates with the outside through first air passages () formed in the outer race and with the inside of the bearing unit through second radial air passages () defined between the inner half-races. The second passages () are defined by an intermediate annular member () which is axially interposed between the inner half-races () and forms one or more blade surfaces () extending from the second passage () to the intermediate chamber () for capturing air from the intermediate chamber and conveying it into the second passage.

Bearing unit for the hub of a vehicle wheel equipped with a tire inflating system

A bearing unit comprises a radially outer stationary race () and a pair of radially inner rotatable half-races (). Au intermediate annular chamber () is defined between the outer race () and the inner half-races () The intermediate chamber communicates with the outside through first air passages () formed in the outer race () and with the inside of the bearing unit through second radial air passages () defined between the inner half-races (). An intermediate annular member () is axially interposed between the inner half-races () and defines the second passages ().

A hollow suspension standard () of a vehicle equipped with a system for supplying pressurized air to a tire through the hub of the wheel has an inner cavity () and a seat () for housing a wheel hub bearing unit (). The standard () forms a first passage () for establishing fluid communication between the inner cavity () and the hub-bearing unit (), and a second passage () establishing fluid communication between the inner cavity () and a source of pressurized air mounted on board of the vehicle.

System for supplying pressurized air to a vehicle tire through the hub of the wheel

A bearing unit comprises an outer stationary race () with a first inner passage () for the air, and two axially adjacent inner half-races () rotatable with the hub of a wheel. Formed between the inner half-races are essentially radial second inner air passages (). These passages have surfaces () inclined forwardly with respect to a direction of rotation (A, B) so as to favor the air flow through the rotating part of the bearing.

An annular hub () has flange () for connecting to a wheel and an axial cylindrical surface () for mounting a bearing unit (). An intermediate annular member () is coupled for rotation to a driving axle shaft () by a first toothed/splined coupling () and to the hub () by a second toothed/splined coupling ().

Hub-bearing assembly for a driving wheel of a vehicle, particularly a truck

A wheel assembly includes a hub and bearing unit in which an annular hub has an axial cylindrical seat with an outer ring of a bearing fitted thereto with radial interference. The ring is locked axially on the hub between a pair of annular rims which project radially outwardly from the outer cylindrical surface of the ring and have been cold-deformed so as to engage two opposite surfaces of the hub. The hub also has an outer radial flange for fixing a brake rotor which in turn has an inner radial flange arranged substantially in the same plane as the flange. The brake rotor is locked axially on the hub by at least one cold-deformed annular rim which projects radially outwardly from the flange on the hub so as to engage a respective one of two radial surfaces of the flange.
