Internal combustion engine for gaseous fuels having a combustion chamber () in which gaseous fuel is burned. The gaseous fuel is kept at an operating pressure in a gas tank () and fed to the combustion chamber () via a supply line (). The combustion chamber () is connected to a fresh air line () through which ambient air is fed to the combustion chamber (). The exhaust gas from the combustion chamber () is fed to an exhaust gas catalytic converter () via an exhaust pipe (). A pressure relief line (') with a switchable release valve () branches off from the supply line (), via which gaseous fuel can be discharged from the supply line ().

Internal combustion engine for gaseous fuels

The invention relates to a method () for operating a tank device () for storing compressed fluids, having a tank (), a valve device (), a feed line (), a flow-regulating element () situated in the feed line (), and a control unit (). The valve device () comprises a magnet apparatus (), by means of which magnet apparatus () the opening and closing process of the valve device () can be controlled, the magnet apparatus () comprising a solenoid (). A characteristic map () is stored in the control unit (), in which characteristic map () reference pressure differences () with associated electrical current strengths for the solenoid () are stored, the electrical current strength being selected such that the valve device () is still open, an initial electrical current strength being stored in the characteristic map (). The method is characterised by the following steps: a. applying () the initial electrical current strength to the solenoid (); b. determining () the pressure pin the tank () and determining () the pressure pin the feed line () between the valve device () and the flow-regulating element (); c. determining () the difference between the pressure pin the tank () and the pressure pin the feed line () between the valve device () and the flow-regulating element (); d. assigning the determined difference between the pressure pin the tank () and the pressure pin the feed line () between the valve device () and the flow-regulating element () to one of the reference pressure differences () in the characteristic map () such that,—if the determined difference between the pressure pin the tank () and the pressure pin the feed line () between the valve device () and the flow-regulating element () can be assigned to one of the reference pressure differences (): i. selecting () an electrical current strength assigned to the determined reference pressure difference () for the solenoid (); ii. applying () the selected electrical current strength to the solenoid (); iii. cyclically repeating () steps a. to d.; —if the determined difference between the pressure pin the tank () and the pressure pin the feed line () between the valve device () and the flow-regulating element () cannot be assigned to one of the reference pressure differences (): returning () to step a.

Method for operating a tank device for storing compressed fluids

A gas metering valve for an internal combustion engine. The gas metering valve includes a housing in which a gas chamber is formed, which includes an inlet opening and an outlet opening. A movable valve element is situated in the gas chamber, which is movable by an electrical actuator against the force of a return spring and which cooperates with a valve seat for opening and closing the inlet opening. A blocking valve is situated between the valve element and the outlet opening, which opens in the flow direction to the outlet opening and blocks in the opposite flow direction.

Fuel injector

A method for operating a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine is described. In the method, the actuator is supplied a voltage and/or a current during an activation period. The control valve is set into a lifting motion by the actuator. The injector is opened and closed by the nozzle needle, using the lifting motion of the control valve. A further time period is ascertained. The further time period ends at the closing time of the nozzle needle. A function is ascertained, which links the activation period to the further time period. A shortest activation period, for which the nozzle needle opens and produces an injection, is ascertained with the aid of the function. An opening delay period (d) of the nozzle needle is ascertained as a function of the shortest time period.

Method for operating a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a fuel injector for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, comprising a nozzle needle () which is able to perform stroke motions and by the stroke motion of which at least one injection opening can be exposed or closed, and further comprising a control valve () for controlling the stroke motion of the nozzle needle () in that, depending on the respective switch position of the control valve (), hydraulic pressure applied in closing direction to the nozzle needle () in a control chamber () is altered, and further comprising a sensor array () for detecting the needle closing time. According to the invention, the sensor array () is arranged in the low-pressure area of the fuel injector in a space () which is sealed with respect to the fuel-conducting area (). Sealing of the space () is effected by a membrane () made of a fuel-resistant, electrically conductive material, allowing the membrane () to also be utilized for implementing a ground connection.
