An apparatus includes a programmable logic configured to: convolve a stencil in a non-rotated orientation about a 2D array of pixels of a captured image received as image data from a camera to generate non-rotated stencil data; generate rotated stencil data based on a rotation of the stencil into a rotated orientation; generate, based on the non-rotated and rotated stencil data, a per-pixel density map indicative of a location of a corner of a 2D indicia within the captured image; employ noise filtering and subsampling to generate, based on the per-pixel density map, a per-tile density map indicative of the location of the corner of the 2D indicia within a 2D array of tiles that corresponds to the 2D array of pixels of the captured image; and generate, based on the per-tile density map, 2D indicia metadata indicative of the location of the 2D indicia within the captured image.

System for decode of two-dimensional indicia

The invention relates to a method and a system for reading coded information from an object. The system comprises one or more three-dimensional cameras configured such as to capture three-dimensional images of the object and a processor configured such as to process the captured three-dimensional images. The processor is designed to: identify planes upon which faces of the object lie; extract two-dimensional images that lie on the identified planes; and apply coded information recognition algorithms to at least part of the extracted two-dimensional images.

Two or more colors are used in an aiming pattern, where the high contrast between the edges of the two illuminated portions identifies the centerline of the field of view (FOV). The centerline is used as an intuitive and highly recognizable aiming pattern. The colors are generated by light sources, such as LEDs or laser diodes. The edges of the two figures produced by the light sources create a high visibility color contrast line/stripe. Additionally, the aiming pattern can be created using illuminators in the barcode reader, allowing for the barcode to maintain compactness.

An illuminator includes: a body with an opening, for receiving optical means; illuminating means arranged around the opening in a frontal face of this body and commandable to illuminate a space in front of the frontal face, electronic control means of the illuminator; heat dissipating means; connecting means for removably fixing the illuminator at least to the optical apparatus. The body of the illuminator includes a rear face opposite the frontal face which includes a plurality of distinct functional case elements positioned around the opening for receiving at least the electronic control means and/or which defines the heat dissipating means and/or the connecting means, in such a manner as to enable an operator, when the optical apparatus is associated with the illuminator, to access the optical means to dismantle the optical means from the apparatus and/or adjust optical adjusting means of the optical means.
