A single stage servo valve assembly includes a drive assembly and a valve body assembly. The valve body assembly defines: a valve body extending along a valve body axis between a first valve body end and a second valve body axis: a supply port; a control port; and a return port formed through the valve body each defining a respective fluid flow channel, having a fluid flow axis, providing fluid communication between an interior of the valve body and an exterior of the valve body. The drive assembly operates to control the flow of fluid between the supply port, the control port and the return port, via the interior of the valve body, in response to an electric command signal. Each of the supply port, and the return port includes a tapered nozzle at an interface between the interior of the valve body and the respective port fluid flow channel.

Single stage servo valve assembly

A servo valve comprising: a fluid transfer valve assembly includes: a housing having channel therethrough fluidly connecting a supply port, a return port and a control port formed in the housing; a moveable valve spool located within the channel and arranged to regulate flow of fluid between the supply port, the return port and the control port in response to a control signal; and a drive assembly configured to axially move the valve spool relative to the fluid transfer assembly in response to the control signal to regulate the fluid flow. The valve spool comprises a first spool part and a second spool part and the drive assembly comprises a piezoelectric actuator positioned between the first and the second spool parts within the channel. Then when a control signal is applied to the piezoelectric actuator it causes extension or contraction of the first and second piezoelectric actuator elements.

Servovalve

A servo valve includes a fluid transfer valve assembly comprising a valve body having a supply port and a control port (C). The valve body has first and second nozzles and a drive member therebetween, arranged to regulate flow of fluid from the supply port to the control port in response to a control signal. The assembly also includes a drive assembly comprising a magnetic coil and a core passing through the coil and configured to move axially with respect to the coil when the coil is powered by a current dependent on the control signal, the drive assembly arranged to move the drive member relative to the first and second nozzles in response to the control signal.

Flapper servo valve

A servo valve comprises a member disposed in a cavity and axially-moveable therein. The member includes first and second sections, a central section located between the first and second sections and first and second transition sections respectively between the first and second sections and the central section, forming respective first and second outer surfaces angled relative to the axis (X). At least one of the transition sections comprises a non-circular cross-section having a concave portion forming at least part of the respective first and second surfaces and being at least partially aligned with and facing the respective first or second nozzle opening such that rotating the member in said cavity varies the level of obstruction of the first or second nozzle openings by the first or second outer surfaces.

Servo valve

A servo valve comprises a valve housing, a cavity formed in the valve housing and defining a longitudinal axis (X), and a member disposed in the cavity and axially-moveable therein, wherein the member comprises a portion with first and second cylindrical sections having a first diameter (R, R), a central section located between the first and second cylindrical sections and having a second diameter (R), and first and second frusto-conical sections connecting the first and second sections to the central section and forming respective first and second frusto-conical surfaces. A plurality of ports, each form a fluid passage through the valve housing and have first and second nozzles with first and second nozzle openings.
