A dual pump unit having a pair of pumps that provide parallel hydraulic paths, and are configured to operate concurrently in opposite rotational directions. The dual pump unit has a sealed casing which includes a suction flange, two volutes in hydraulically parallel configuration, and a discharge flange. The pair of pumps are located within a respective volute of the casing and, in an example, are radially inline and horizontally inline. The casing may include a flattened bottom. Each pump may include a touchscreen for configuration of the respective pump. The pumps are controllable to circulate a circulating medium to collectively provide output to source a load.

A heat transfer system that includes one or more heat exchangers and one or more variable control pumps that control flow through the one or more heat exchangers. At least one variable control pump is on the source side of the heat exchanger for controlling flow of a first circulation medium and at least one flow controlling mechanical device is on the load side of the heat exchanger for controlling flow of a second circulation medium. Sensors are used for detecting variables of the first circulation medium and the second circulation medium. At least one controller is configured to control at least one parameter of the first circulation medium or the second circulation medium by controlling at least one of the variable control pump or the flow controlling mechanical device using a feed forward control loop calculated from the detected variables to achieve control of the at least one parameter.

Feed forward flow control of heat transfer system

A control system for an operable system such as a flow control system or temperature control system. The system operates in a control loop to regularly update a model with respect at least one optimizable input variable based on the detected variables. The model provides prediction of use of the input variables in all possible operation points or paths of the system variables which achieve an output setpoint. In some example embodiments, the control loop is performed during initial setup and subsequent operation of the one or more operable elements in the operable system. The control system is self-learning in that at least some of the initial and subsequent parameters of the system are determined automatically during runtime.

Self learning control system and method for optimizing a consumable input variable

A heat transfer system that includes one or more heat exchangers and one or more control pumps that control flow through the heat exchangers. In order to source a variable load, the control pumps can be controlled to operate at less than full duty flow. In an example embodiment, a controller can calculate, when each heat exchanger is clean, coefficient values of each respective heat exchanger. The controller can determine, during real-time operation, real-time coefficient values of the heat exchanger to compare with the respective coefficient values when clean, in order to determine whether there is fouling in that heat exchanger. In some examples, the controller can determine that maintenance is required on the heat exchanger due to the fouling, and perform flushing of the heat exchanger by operating one or more of the control pumps at full duty load during real-time operation to source the variable load.

A method and system for co-ordinating control of a plurality of sensorless devices. Each device includes a communication subsystem and configured to self-detect one or more device properties, the device properties resulting in output having one or more output properties. The method includes: detecting inputs including the one or more device properties of each device, correlating, for each device, the detected one or more device properties to the one or more output properties, and co-ordinating control of each of the devices to operate at least one of their respective device properties to co-ordinate one or more output properties for the combined output to achieve a setpoint. In some example embodiments, the setpoint can be fixed, calculated or externally determined.
