Various embodiments provide systems and methods for connecting wireless-enabled products to wireless networks. Customer network credentials may be stored in a server along with a customer identifier ('customer ID') during one-time registration. When a wireless-enabled product is purchased, a product identifier ('product ID') and the customer's ID are forwarded to the server, which correlates the two identifiers, linking the purchased product to the customer. When the wireless-enabled product is powered on, the product accesses the server via a public network connection, and sends the product ID and a security token to the server. The server uses the product ID and the security token to authenticate the product. Once authenticated, the server uses the correlated customer ID to look up the network credentials for the customer's private network, and provides the network credentials to the wireless-enabled product. The wireless-enabled product then uses the downloaded credentials to access the customer's private network.

Method and system for onboarding wireless-enabled products in a network

The disclosure relates to a low-power co-processor subsystem that can optimize power consumption in a wireless service platform having a main wireless application datapath, wherein the low-power co-processor subsystem may offload certain service discovery tasks from the main wireless application datapath (e.g., such that components residing therein can transition to a low-power state). For example, the service discovery tasks offloaded to the low-power co-processor subsystem may be determined according to protocol-specific service descriptions associated with one or more services to be provided and/or consumed at a wireless device. Furthermore, rules to wake the components in the main wireless application datapath may be dynamically defined and redefined or otherwise tuned to maximize the time that the components in the main wireless application datapath can spend in the low-power state and to determine conditions under which to selectively wake the components in the main wireless application datapath as needed.

Smart co-processor for optimizing service discovery power consumption in wireless service platforms

In an embodiment, a connection is established between first and second Internet of Things (IoT) devices. After a determination is made to execute a proximity detection procedure, the second IoT device outputs an audio emission and a data packet at substantially the same time. The first IoT device detects the audio emission via a microphone and receives the data packet. The first IoT device uses correlation information to correlate the detected audio emission with the data packet, whereby the correlation information is contained in the detected audio emission, the data packet or both. The first IoT device uses the correlation between the detected audio emission and the data packet to calculate a distance estimate between the first and second IoT devices.

Proximity detection of internet of things (IoT) devices using sound chirps

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. A multi-radio device controls wireless communications by identifying one or more connection points between radio(s) of the multi-radio device and an operating system executing on a host device, analyzing a policy relating to the multi-radio device, and exposing, to the operating system, a subset of the connection points based on the policy. A modem manages a connection to an applications processor (AP) by virtualizing physical communication interfaces at the modem, providing a single Internet protocol (IP) interface representing the virtualized physical communication interfaces to a high level operating system (HLOS) at the AP, detecting a physical communication interface connected to the modem, and determining whether to expose the detected physical communication interface to the HLOS as a standalone virtualized physical communication interface, or hide the detected physical communication interface as part of an existing virtualized physical communication interface.

Configurable host interface using multi-radio device and architecture for WLAN offload

A method and apparatus is provided for securely obtaining input from a touchscreen. A secure execution environment may be implemented (e.g., at a processor), where the secure execution environment may include a touchscreen driver. A keypad image may be sent from the secure execution environment to be displayed by a touchscreen. An input location may be received at the secure execution environment from the touchscreen driver. Such input location may be converted at the secure execution environment into a character, symbol, or a request to change the keypad image displayed at the touchscreen. In one implementation, the secure execution environment may further implement a display driver which sends the keypad image to the touchscreen. The secure execution environment may implement driver keypad image mapping function that maps the keypad image to a character set.

Secure input via a touchscreen

Systems and methods are disclosed for coordinating resource usage between applications in a tightly sandbox environment. A scheduling indicator can be left in a system file that multiple applications can use to align their requests for a system resource. Alternatively, IP loopback can be used to pass a scheduling indicator between applications that are otherwise sandboxed. If either of these approaches is not possible, then applications can schedule system resource requests using a common algorithm that selects a start time and optionally a period of subsequent system resource requests based on a common piece of information such as a system clock signal or IP address. In these ways the total amount of time during which the system resource is being utilized by various applications can be reduced, thus reducing power consumption, and network activity.

Systems and methods to coordinate resource usage in tightly sandboxed environments

A communication session between a node seeking network access and a NAS (Network Access Server) is established by having only few exchanges of messages. Upon detecting a physical link between the node and the NAS, the NAS immediately sends an authentication request message to the node. In response, the node sends a request message which includes all parameters options, in addition to responding to the authentication request message, for link configuration and network access control. The NAS then picks and chooses the parameter options and sends back the selected options in a reply message to the node. If the selected options in the reply message meet a threshold, the node straightforwardly transmits user data for network access via the NAS.

Fast link establishment for network access

Systems and methods for wireless communications are provided. These include data deciphering components, interrupt processing components, adaptive aggregations methods, optimized data path processing, buffer pool processing, application processing where data is formatted in a suitable format for a destination process, and Keystream bank processing among other hardware acceleration features. Such systems and methods are provided to simplify logic designs and mitigate processing steps during wireless network data processing.

Hardware acceleration for WWAN technologies

Aspects describe selection of a mobility protocol after a mobile device has been authenticated with a network. Selection of mobility protocol after authentication can mitigate the amount of time needed to implement the mobility protocol. The mobility protocols include a simple IP protocol, a proxy mobile IP protocol, and a client mobile IP protocol. Implementation of simple IP protocol and proxy mobile IP protocol are performed in a similar manner from the perspective of a mobile device. If IPCP negotiation is successful, proxy mobile IP protocol or simple IP protocol can be selected. If IPCP negotiation is not successful, client mobile IP protocol can be selected.

Mobility protocol selection in a multi-internet protocol mobility environment

A generic quality of service (QoS) model that is not dependent on network technology is used to support QoS for communication networks utilizing different network technologies. The generic QoS model may include a superset of all QoS parameters for all network technologies being supported, e.g., 3GPP and 3GPP2. An application at a device may specify QoS for a traffic flow based on the generic QoS parameters in the superset. The generic QoS parameters may be converted to QoS parameters that are specific to a serving network. The converted QoS parameters are exchanged with the serving network and are used while exchanging traffic with the serving network.

Technology agnostic QoS support in a multi-mode environment

Apparatus and methods are described herein for managing data network connections. When a gateway or user equipment receives a message indicating the active data network connections associated with the sending party, the gateway or user equipment checks a locally stored list of active data network connections to determine whether there is a match. If at least one active data network connection does not match, the receiving device sends a message to the sending party indicating the locally stored active data network connections.

Method and apparatus for handling stale PDN context

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for determining proximity between networked devices without requiring those devices to share location information either because of privacy or because such information cannot be obtained. To do this, access points for a plurality of networked devices are compared, and those devices detecting, or detected by, the same access points are deemed proximal to each other. Software, or features of software, can be initiated on those networked devices that are proximal to other networked devices and the proximal networked devices can be given information enabling them to identify and communicate with each other.

An apparatus and method for determining an authorized IP service for an access terminal during an establishment of a PPP connection. In an aspect of the disclosure, a data link is established with the access terminal, and a request to authenticate the access terminal is provided to an authentication/authorization server. During authentication, an IP Service Authorized Parameter is provided by the authentication/authorization server, the IP Service Authorized Parameter for indicating the authorized IP service for the access terminal. Thereby, a network layer protocol and a mobility protocol are each configured according to the authorized IP service that corresponds to the IP Service Authorized Parameter.

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate enhanced data service functionality for data services operating in a multi-processor computing environment. As described herein, respective processors and/or other components can be utilized to form a Smart Peripheral Subsystem (SPS). As further described herein, the SPS can operate in association with a modem processor and an application processor at a mobile computing device in order to reduce loading at the application processor and improve memory usage efficiency. In the case of a mobile computing device sharing a network connection with a tethered computing device, the SPS can couple a modem interface associated with the mobile computing device and an interface through which the disparate computing device is tethered to the mobile computing device such that operations such as Layer 2 (L2) framing and/or de-framing, Network Address Translation (NAT), or the like can be offloaded to the SPS under various circumstances.

Method and apparatus for managing data services in a multi-processor computing environment

The packets generated by each of multiple packet data applications are provided to a single Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) stack and a single High-level Data Link Control (HDLC) framing layer to convert data packets into byte streams suitable for transmission through Radio Link Protocol (RLP) connections. Each of the resultant multiple byte streams is then provided to one of multiple RLP connections having different retransmission and delay properties. The RLP connection selected for sending data from each application is based on the grade of service most appropriate for the application. At the receiver, the data from the multiple RLP connections is provided to a single PPP stack.
