The present invention concerns a sliding cam system for an internal combustion engine having at least one camshaft, an adjustment element and at least one actuator. The camshaft comprises a carrier shaft with a primary sliding cam element and at least one secondary sliding cam element. Each of the cam elements are arranged so as to be displaceable axially relative to the carrier shaft. Each of the cam elements comprises a shift gate with at least one shift groove. The actuator has at least one actuator pin which engages in the shift groove of the shift gate of the primary sliding cam element according to the necessary switch position of the camshaft. The adjustment element is arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis of the carrier shaft and is axially displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the carrier shaft and has at least two coupling pins.

Sliding cam system for an internal combustion engine, comprising an integrated locking element

A slide cam system includes a camshaft comprising a carrier shaft with slide cam elements that each comprise a slotted switching member having a switching groove. The slide cam elements are displaceable axially relative to the carrier shaft by an actuator pin. A displacement element is arranged parallel with a longitudinal axis of the carrier shaft, and the displacement element is axially displaceable in a direction of the longitudinal axis. The displacement element has a first coupling pin arranged in a region of the first slide cam element and a second coupling pin arranged in a region of the second slide cam element. The coupling pins cooperate with a slotted switching member of the associated slide cam element such that as a result of the displacement element a movement initiated by the actuator pin of the first slide cam element can be transmitted to the second slide cam element.

A shift gate for a sliding cam system may include at least two shift grooves for engagement of at least one actuator pin. The two shift grooves run against a direction of rotation and transform from a first inlet portion for the actuator pin into a second outlet portion for the actuator pin. The two shift grooves cross one another in an intersection region between the two portions. In the intersection region, the two shift grooves each have a maximum axial shift stroke that is greater than half a total axial shift stroke, in particular a slide travel, of the shift gate.

A sliding cam system for an internal combustion engine includes an adjusting element that has at least three coupling pins. A first coupling pin is arranged in the region of the primary sliding cam element and a second coupling pin is arranged in the region of the first secondary sliding cam element and a third coupling pin is arranged in the region of the second secondary sliding cam element. The coupling pins each cooperate with a shifting gate of the respectively associated sliding cam element such that a movement of a primary sliding cam element initiated by the actuator pin is transmissible to secondary sliding cam elements by the adjusting element. The sliding cam system is designed such that a shifting operation of the first secondary sliding cam element takes place at least partially at the same time as the shifting operation of the second secondary sliding cam element.

A method concerns producing a cam profile of a cam pack with at least two cam elements that can be adjusted relative to each other. The camshaft may comprise an outer shaft, a rotatable inner shaft, a fixed cam element connected to the outer shaft, and an adjustment cam element connected to the inner shaft. The method may comprise processing an adjustment cam contour by a continuous diameter reduction of a segment of the adjustment cam base circle, wherein the adjustment cam base circle is reduced to a diameter that is smaller than a fixed cam nominal circle diameter minus a doubled adjustment cam base circle tolerance. The method may comprise processing a fixed cam contour by reducing a fixed cam contour protrusion in a region between a transition point and a processing point. Upon reaching the transition point a tapping element for converting a revolving motion of the cam elements into a linear motion of the valves is transferred from the fixed cam element to the adjustment cam element.

Method for producing a cam profile of a cam pack of a camshaft

An adjustable camshaft may include an outer shaft that is hollow and an inner shaft received in the outer shaft and rotatable in the outer shaft. The inner shaft may include a cavity into which oil can be applied. At least a first radial opening may be configured in the outer shaft and at least a second radial opening may be configured in the inner shaft. Thus oil can flow between the cavity and an outside of the outer shaft during overlap of the first radial opening and the second radial opening. The first radial opening on an inside of the outer shaft may have a greater cross-section than on the outside of the outer shaft.
