In a method, an apparatus and a computer program product for service decomposition in IP-broadcast networks, a full service bundle is detected within a first transport stream protocol having a plurality of broadcast packets corresponding to respective broadcast services. The respective service identifiers of the plurality of broadcast packets are evaluated, and the full service bundle is decomposed to create a plurality of decomposed broadcast packets on the basis of the service identifiers. For at least one same service identifier the corresponding plurality of decomposed broadcast packets is sent with the first transport stream protocol as a main service bundle, and for at least one remaining same service identifier the corresponding plurality of decomposed broadcast packets is sent with a second transport stream protocol as a sub service bundle. The second transport stream protocol contains synchronization information of the first transport stream protocol.

Method, apparatus and computer program product for service decomposition in IP-broadcast networks

An encoding method and device are provided for a series of data packets transmitted in the framework of a combined streaming and downloading application by a two-stage error protection process and only one unidirectional transmission channel. A partial block of successive data packets is protected against some transmission errors occurring during streaming with the aid of a first error protection process while all data packets are protected against the transmission errors that can remain after streaming is completed with the aid of a second error protection process. In a decoding process, a series of data packets that are encoded according to the encoding are decoded.

A method is provided for encoding and decoding a sequence of digital data, according to which a portion of the sequence of digital data corresponds to a data block that includes several data packets, at least two data packets per data block containing an identifier. The invention relates to a method for transmitting digital information packets in a data network from an emitter to a receiver, the information packets being transported by means of a transport layer. Said method is characterized by the following steps: the information packets to be transmitted are divided into at least two data packet groups in the emitter; redundancy information is respectively added to the data packet groups in the form of redundancy packets; the information packets and the redundancy packets in the data packet groups are respectively completed with a signalization field containing information used to determine the position of the respective information packet or the respective redundancy packet inside the respective data packet group; the data packet groups are transmitted to the receiver; the signalization fields of the information packets and redundancy packets received are read out in the receiver, and the positions of the information packets and the redundancy packets are reconstructed in the data packet groups by means of the information in the signalization fields.

Method for transmission of digital information packets in a data network

Additional descriptors are used which, unlike known descriptors, only describe the size of the subset and the difference in correction capability. The additional descriptors also identify a defined separation between a signaling block and at least one data block, in addition to the positions of the filler bits within the transmission block or data block.
