A position sensor comprises at least one magneto-sensitive element, a current source that is coupled to the at least one magneto-sensitive element and is configured to supply a source current to the at least one magneto-sensitive element, an analog-to-digital converter having an input coupled to the at least one magneto-sensitive element, a position calculation unit that is coupled to an output of the analog-to-digital converter and comprises a first output for providing a position signal, and a diagnostic unit that comprises an output coupled to the current source and is configured to provide a stimulus signal as a function of a stimulus pattern at the output of the diagnostic unit.

In a measurement method, a plurality of magnetic field sensors (MS-MS) that are arranged along a circular periphery (CIR) and are each configured to emit a sensor signal (H-H) as a function of a magnetic field intensity is provided. A diametrically magnetized magnetic source (MAG) seated rotatably on the circular periphery (CIR) about an axis of rotation (RA) is further provided. A first set of sensor signals from the magnetic field sensors (MS-MS) is received and a first orientation (AL) of an axis (AX) defined by a reference value transition (RFD) is determined as a function the first set. After a rotation of the magnetic source (MAG) about the axis of rotation (RA), a second set of sensor signals is received and a second orientation (AL) of the axis (AX) is determined as a function of the second set of sensor signals. A position (X, Y) of the axis of rotation (RA) is acquired as a function of the first and the second orientation (AL, AL).

Measurement method, sensor arrangement, and method for constructing a measurement system

A sensor system and method of operating such a sensor system for measuring an angle of rotation with an arrangement of at least four magnetic sensors (), at least four signal modulators (), each one connected to one of the magnetic sensors () and having at least two control states, whereby, in a first state (+), a signal received from a sensor () is output by the signal modulators () and, in a second state (&#x2212;), the inverse of the signal received from the sensor () is output by the signal modulators (), a means () for adding the signals output by the signal modulators () and a diametrically magnetized magnetic source (). The sensor system further comprises a data output () and a control circuit () with at least one control input (), allowing to switch the control circuit () into at least two different modes. In an alignment mode of operation, the signal modulators () are configured in such a way that a signal corresponding to the average magnetic field strength detected by the sensors () is output to the data output ().

Magnetic rotary encoder and method for iteratively aligning magnet relative to magnetic sensors

A sensor, in particular a Hall sensor, comprising a sensor element () which outputs a sensor signal (SS) containing an interference signal (STS). An evaluation device () is connected to the sensor element and contains a subtractor () which subtracts the interference signal from the sensor signal. The sensor contains a filter device (), which filters out the interference signal from the sensor signal. The sensor and a related method enable compensation of the interference signal.
