A map-based graphical user interface for a social media application displays to social media activity information based on submission of geo-tagged social media items to the platform. Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for device independent secure messaging. The systems and methods generate an encrypted message by encrypting message content, designated for a specified recipient, with an encryption key. The systems and methods select a set of recipient keys, associated with the specified recipient, from a plurality of member keys. For each recipient key, the systems and methods encrypt the encryption key to generate a set of encrypted keys and transmit the encrypted message and an encrypted key of the set of encrypted keys to one or more client devices associated with the specified recipient. The systems and methods then receive an acknowledgement indicating a termination status of the encrypted message.

Device independent secure messaging

A server system for a map-based social media platform maintains user location information to enable the rendering of friend icons on a map at a corresponding display locations. The system maintains a per user access control list (ACL) that lists all users whose icons can be viewed by a requesting user. The ACL can include a designation of respective display granularity levels for different friend users.

Low-latency delivery mechanism for map-based GUI

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for authenticated control of content delivery. The method includes receiving a request for an item of content from a computing device, the request comprising a security token associated with the computing device and an identifier of a group of domains, identifying the group of domains from the identifier, and retrieving a security key associated with the group of domains. The method further includes decrypting a signature of the security token, identifying an authentication string, determining that the authentication string matches a server authentication string, and identifying characteristics of the security token. The characteristics of the security token include a confidence score. The method further includes comparing the confidence score of the security token to a threshold, determining that the confidence score does not exceed the threshold, and preventing transmission of content to the computing device.

Systems and methods for authenticated control of content delivery

For users and or submitted items that need predefined location fuzzing criteria, such activity is represented in the graphical user interface at an intentionally inaccurate position.

Location privacy management on map-based social media platforms

Among other things, embodiments of the present disclosure improve the functionality of electronic messaging and imaging software and systems by determining the current activities of users based on location sensor information from the users' computing devices and generating customized media content items based on their activities. The media content can be generated for a variety of topics and shared with other users. For example, media content (e.g., images or video) can be generated and displayed on a user's computing device, as well as transmitted to other users via electronic communications, such as short message service (SMS) or multimedia service (MMS) texts and emails.

Location-based virtual avatars

A tracking system is provided that tracks user browsing activity while maintaining user privacy. It is determined whether a cookie is stored in local storage of a client device. If the cookie is not stored: a tracking identification (ID) is generated; the tracking ID, a cookie rotation timestamp, and a failed request counter in a generated cookie is stored; and the generated cookie is copied and attached to a transmitted event. If the cookie is stored: it is determined whether a time indicated by a stored cookie rotation timestamp is in the past; if the time is in the past, a flag requesting a new cookie value is set for a transmitted event; and if the time is not in the past, the stored cookie is copied and attached to a transmitted event.

Privacy-preserving first-party tracking

Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for retrieving authentication credentials and decryption keys to access remotely stored user-generated content. The systems and methods receive a first authentication credential and access a second authentication credential based on receiving the first authentication credential. The system and methods generate an authentication token and an encryption token. Based on the authentication token, the system and methods access a set of encrypted content and an encrypted content key. The systems and methods decrypt the encrypted content key using the encryption token and decrypt the set of encrypted content using the decrypted content key. At least a portion of the content is presented at the user device.
