A zero-U, high-density fiber optic terminal for data centers and central offices is disclosed. The terminal may be used for optical fiber interconnection and/or optical fiber and fiber optic cable storage. The terminal is removably mountable to a cable tray above fiber optic equipment, in a subfloor below fiber optic equipment or on a wall in proximity of fiber optic equipment. Additionally, the terminal may have an adapter panel with fiber optic adapters for optically connecting the optical fiber of a first fiber optic cable received from the cable tray and the optical fiber of a second fiber optic cable. The second fiber optic cable is intended to extend to the fiber optic equipment. The adapter panel and the fiber optic adapters are angled generally in the direction in which the second fiber optic cable is intended to extend. Angling the fiber optic adapters in this manner accommodates routing of second fiber optic cable, and provides ease of access to the fiber optic adapters for connecting and disconnecting fiber optic connectors and to slack storage components for cable management mounted in the terminal.

Removably mountable fiber optic terminal

A universal cable bracket for strain relieving a cable in a fiber management system includes a first portion having a cable receiving area defined therein for holding a section of an optic fiber cable with a notch to prevent postponing; a second portion having a complementary cable receiving area for the section of the optic fiber cable, the second portion being configured to mate with the first portion; a routing window defined in at least one of the first and second portions for routing a fiber of the optic fiber cable therethrough; and a sacrament assembly being configured to hold the first and second portions together and to secure the section of the optic fiber cable there between.

Universal cable bracket

Terminal shields are provided that are configured to protect an optical terminal device. The terminal shield comprises a first portion configured to be secured with respect to the optical terminal device. The terminal shield further comprises a second portion pivotally attached to the first portion. The second portion is configured to be pivoted relative to the first portion between an open orientation to provide access to an area of the optical terminal device and a closed orientation with the terminal shield disposed about a portion of the optical terminal device.

Terminal shields for protecting optical components in optical assemblies

An environmentally sealed closure, such as a terminal for terminated ends of fiber optic cables, includes a housing having a wall defining an interior volume. A floating sealing assembly is provided including a first plate, a seal member and a second plate arranged in a stack within the interior volume. The seal member has an outer sealing edge for contacting the wall of the housing, which may be straight and/or chamfered. Fiber optic cables extend through the sealing assembly so that the terminated ends are within the splice area. The floating sealing assembly is compressed so as to place the outer sealing edge of the seal member in sealing contact with the wall of the housing. When a pressure differential exists between the splice area and the outside of the housing only one of the first or second plates moves along the longitudinal axis to further compress the seal member and increase sealing between the outer sealing edge and the housing wall.

Terminal with internal environmental seal

The present invention discloses a pushing-in device and a method for driving through a cable entry port of an elastomeric sealing element of a fiber optic closure. The pushing-in device comprises a first end having an opening adapted to receive a cable, and a second end having a tip. The tip is capable of penetrating and passing through the cable entry port of the sealing element. The first end is capable of penetrating the sealing element at the cable entry port when the pushing-in device is driven through the cable entry port. In this manner, a cable inserted in the opening of the pushing-in device may be inserted and fed through the sealing element into the fiber optic closure. Also, the pushing-in device may be used as a plug in a cable entry port.
