Embodiments herein describe branch statements for a segment routing (SR) list that are inserted into a packet header for use when performing Service function chaining (SFC). For example, the branch statement may be embedded within a SR list and includes a serverless function ID and two different segment IDs (SIDs). When reaching a network node assigned to perform the serverless function, the node uses the function ID to determine the appropriate serverless function to use when evaluating the packet and then uses the results of that function to determine which segment to use when forwarding the packet. Thus, rather than forming a linear chain, the branch statement permits the SR list to form different routes (depending on the results of the serverless function) as part of SFC.

Conditional composition of serverless network functions using segment routing

In one embodiment, a device in a network receives an interest request for one or more pieces of content data available in the network. The interest request specifies the one or more pieces of content data via one or more bits sets in a content request bitmap of the interest request, each bit of the content request bitmap being associated with a different piece of content data. The device compares the content request bitmap to a content availability bitmap in a forwarding information base (FIB) of the device that is associated with a particular interface of the device and each bit of the content availability bitmap indicates whether a particular piece of content data is available via the particular interface. The device forwards the interest request via the particular interface, based on the comparison between the content request bitmap and the content availability bitmap in the FIB of the device.

Lightweight naming scheme for aggregating requests in information-centric networking

Systems, methods, and computer program products relating to resilient transmission of a media stream over a communication network. A plurality of data packets are received over a communications network. The plurality of data packets relate to a first source video portion transformed using a geometric transform. The geometric transform is configured to modify a location of pixels in the first source video portion such that a plurality of adjacent pixels in the first source video portion are not adjacent after transformation. A received video portion is assembled based on the plurality of data packets. The received video portion is transformed, using an inverse of the geometric transform, to generate a second source video portion. The second source video portion and the first source video portion include a plurality of matching pixels.

Resilient transmission of raw video streams over an IP communication network

In one embodiment, a load-balancer in a computer network receives an end-device request for a particular network-based resource, and determines a popularity of the particular network-based resource being requested in comparison to other network-based resources requested by end devices in the computer network. In response to the particular network-based resource being popularly requested, the load-balancer forwards the end-device request into a Fog network to cause the Fog network to respond to the end-device request with particular network-based resource. Conversely, in response to the particular network-based resource not being popularly requested, the load-balancer forwards the end-device request into a Cloud network to cause the Cloud network to respond to the end-device request with particular network-based resource.
