A clutch plate comprising two torsional damper devices the action of which is staggered. A first of the torsional damper devices has a plurality of washers with one of the washers featuring protrusions whereby the one washer is coupled in rotation to a flange of a second of the dampers. These protrusions are pegs, and use is made of holes provided in the second washer to constrain a friction ring to rotate with the second washer.

A clutch mechanism is designed to couple at will a flywheel and a shaft, and is equipped with a power takeoff for permanently driving a second shaft concentric with the first shaft.

A clutch plate comprises a friction disc and a hub mounted for relative angular movement within a predetermined range. The hub and friction disc are coupled together by first and second stage dampers, the first being lower rated than the second. Each damper comprises a radial flange, two guide washers on respective sides of the flange and springs interposed circumferentially between each flange and its guide washers. The flange of the first stage damper is defined by one of the guide washers of the second stage damper and the guide washers of the first stage are fixed for rotation with the hub. The clutch plate comprises two subassemblies, one comprising the hub and the flange, guide washers and springs of the first stage damper and the other the flange and other guide washer of the second stage damper, the springs of the second stage damper being preferably part of the other subassembly.

A clutch plate for a friction clutch is disclosed having first and second torsion dampers coupling a hub to a friction disc. Each of the dampers includes a radial flange, two guide washers fixed to each other on axially opposite slides of the flange, and springs circumferentially interposed between each flange and its guide washers. The friction disc is fixed to one of the second stage guide washers and the first stage guide washers are fixed to the second stage damper. The second stage damper comprises a unit pre-assembled with the hub and is disposed within the confines of the second stage damper, and preferably between one of the guide washers and the flange of the second stage damper.
