A system and method for providing database replay are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system detects a trigger; obtains updated data from a read-only table; stores the updated data in a modifiable table; retrieves a modification history including a comprehensive and persistent record of the changes made to one or more earlier versions of the modifiable table; and applies the modifications indicated in the modification history to the updated data stored in the modifiable table.

Techniques are disclosed for retrieving both data stored in relational form and data stored in XML form responsive to a single XQuery query. The techniques allow applications to retrieve relational data residing in various relational database management systems by using XQuery and XQuery for Java. In one such embodiment, an embeddable serverless computer component implements the techniques, and includes a combination of one or more relational adaptors and a mediator to access relational data and transform it into appropriate XML. The techniques are embeddable, and can be standards-based, database-independent, and operating-system independent. Optimized performance and scalability from desktop to enterprise applications are enabled as the number of users and/or database size increases.

Database-independent mechanism for retrieving relational data as XML

A system and method for providing connectivity as a service are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system establishes a connection between a driver and a connectivity service; receives, at the connectivity service, a request from the driver; establishes a connection with one or more data sources associated with the request; and sends the request to the one or more data sources, the one or more data sources performing an action based on the request.
