Disclosed are tools and devices for use in repairing an intervertebral disc. The devices include an anchor configured to be secured in a vertebra adjacent the intervertebral disc and a prosthesis having an active part that is configured for placement inside the nucleus of the disc. The tools include an anchor placement tool that includes a chisel for carving the vertebra and a rotatable part that is used for engaging with and screwing the anchor into the vertebra. The tools also include a prosthesis placement tool that is configured to support and facilitate an attachment of the prosthesis to the anchor and to deploy the active part of the prosthesis in the nucleus of the disc. According to one embodiment the prosthesis placement tool is equipped with electronics for the purpose of verifying a corrected attachment of the prosthesis to the anchor. According to other embodiments, the electronics are included in a separate checker tool.

Apparatus and methods for repairing an intervertebral disc

Clip for an aneurism suitable for being implanted into tissue in which an aneurism has formed and carrying out a tight closure of the aneurism. The clip includes a pair of claw members () non-metallic material, the claw members provided with an articulated joining mechanism (), which allows rotation of the pair of claw members around a pivot () which interlocks them. The clip can adopt at least one opening position (A) and one closure position (B). The clip has at least one spring element () at least partially housed in the clip which bends to arrange the clip in closure position which includes at least one flexible () and elastic element with a section with arced configuration (), press-fitted with two opposing ends () each one exerting pressure on a different claw member both in the opening and in the closure position.

Clip for aneurism

A sternal closure assembly for securing first and second lateral halves of a sternum. The assembly includes a first sliding body having a female portion and a second sliding body having a male portion, the male portion being telescopically mateable with the female portion. The male portion is capable of being fully introduced into the female portion only upon there being an elastic deformation of at least a part of at least one of the male and female portions, the male and female portions configured such that when the second body is mated with the first body the elastic deformation results in a forceful engagement between the male and female portions and also a forceful engagement between a first set of non-deforming teeth extending upward from an interconnecting bridge member of the first sliding body and a second set of non-deforming teeth extending upward from an interconnecting bridge member of the second sliding body.

Sternal closure assembly

A device () for repairing an intervertebral disc comprising an anchoring body (), suitable for being advanced into and secured in one of the vertebrae adjacent the intervertebral disc; and a prosthesis () attachable in a secure coupling position to the anchoring body () and adapted for retaining or replacing the nucleus pulposus in an interior space of an outer annulus of the intervertebral disc, the anchoring body supporting and arranging in the cited coupling position the prosthesis such that the prosthesis is oriented to in a direction toward and through a hole in the outer annulus, the prosthesis comprising at least one active portion () adapted to assume and maintain a first placement shape (A) suitable for permitting the active portion to be inserted into and through the hole in the outer annulus during a placement thereof into the interior space of the outer annulus, and at least a second operative shape (B) suitable for at least partially occluding the hole in the outer annulus and/or replacing at least a portion of the nucleus pulposus upon the active portion assuming a placement position in the interior space of the outer annulus.
