An integrated media user interface is described. In an implementation, a user interface is output that includes a plurality of representations of media, each of the media rendered by the mobile device through execution of a respective one of a plurality of applications. Responsive to selection of at least one of the representations, a corresponding application is located to render the media represented by the at least one said representation. The media represented by the selected representation is rendered through execution of the located application.

A panoramic graphical user interface includes a contiguous background and a collection of mixed-media content objects. The contiguous background includes one or more space-orientating graphical elements and is sized to fit within a first dimension of a display and to extend beyond a second dimension of the display. The collection of mixed-media content objects are anchored over the contiguous background. The collection of mixed-media content objects are arranged to fit within the first dimension of the display and arranged to extend beyond the second dimension of the display.

A hierarchical system is used to store data items easily capable of thumbnail representation (such as images). Such a hierarchical system may allow a folder (or other grouping) to contain both data items and sub-folders. The display of such a folder uses two display areas. In one display area, sub-folders are displayed using a list view, where text is the primary method for the display of the sub-folders which are contained in the folder. In the other display area, a grid view is used to display the data items. Thumbnail images are the primary components of the grid view. Functionality available to a user will change based on whether the user is browsing the list view or the grid view.
