A method of controlling a supercapacitor energy storage unit (), included in a motor vehicle micro-hybrid system, is disclosed. The storage unit is suitable for performing the functions of an alternator, starter and automatic stop-restart of the vehicle heat engine, regenerative braking and torque assistance. The energy storage unit () is a plurality of supercapacitor elementary cells connected in series (Cto C) and capable of delivering information (Vmax, Temp and DeltaV) on its internal status. The method includes various stages of: comparing a maximum elementary voltage (Vmax) with a first voltage threshold (Vmax); comparing a temperature (Temp) with at least one temperature threshold (ST=55&#xb0; C., ST=65&#xb0; C. and ST=70&#xb0; C.); and, deciding on limitations of the availability of functions of the unit when the (Vmax) information reaches threshold (Vmax) for a predetermined duration (T) and/or when the (Temp) information reaches the temperature threshold (ST=55&#xb0; C., ST=65&#xb0; C. and ST=70&#xb0; C.).

Method of controlling an energy storage unit in a vehicle micro-hybrid system

A method of controlling a supercapacitor energy storage unit (), included in a motor vehicle micro-hybrid system, is disclosed. The storage unit is suitable for performing the functions of an alternator, starter and automatic stop-restart of the vehicle heat engine, regenerative braking and torque assistance. The energy storage unit () is a plurality of supercapacitor elementary cells connected in series (Cto C) and capable of delivering information (Vmax, Temp and DeltaV) on its internal status. The method includes various stages of: comparing a temperature (Temp) with at least one temperature threshold (ST=55&#xb0; C., ST=65&#xb0; C. and ST=70&#xb0; C.); and, deciding on limitations of the availability of functions of the unit when the (Temp) information reaches the temperature threshold (ST=55&#xb0; C., ST=65&#xb0; C. and ST=70&#xb0; C.).

An electric control unit is used to generate control signals for the alternator-starter assembly on the basis of first information signals representative of a state of the vehicle and a control unit is used to generate control signals for power circuits on the basis of diagnosis signals representative of the state of the alternator-starter assembly. The control signals are generated using the electronic control unit also on the basis of at least one first diagnosis signal, and control signals are generated using the control circuit also on the basis of second information signals from a data communication bus.

Method and device for secured control of alternator-starter assembly coupled to thermal engine of vehicle, and corresponding alternator-starter assembly and wire links

A method is implemented in a vehicle having an electronic control unit (), vehicle sensors, a data communication bus (), and an on-board electrical network. The micro-hybrid system () comprises at least one rotary electrical machine () which is provided with a device () for detection of rotation, power circuits () comprising an inverter () and an excitation circuit () which supplies the rotary electrical machine (), and a rectifier () which is supplied by the said rotary electrical machine (), energy conversion circuits () which are connected to an energy storage device () which is supplied by the rectifier (), a first circuit () to control the power circuits (), and a second circuit () to control the energy conversion circuits (). The method generates control signals (Dd. Exc., Dd. Ond., Auth. Exc., Auth. Ond.) on the basis of first information signals (Capt. V&#xe9;h.) which are representative of a state of functioning of the vehicle, obtained from the vehicle sensors; and generates by means of the first control circuit () signals (Cd. Exc., Cd. Ond.) to control the power circuits () on the basis of diagnostic signals (Diag. Exc., Diag. Ond.) which are representative of a state of functioning of the system. The method additionally generates control signals (Dd. Exc., Dd. Ond., Auth. Exc., Auth. Ond.) by means of the second control circuit (), under the control of the electronic control unit ().

Method and device for failsafe control of alternator-starter of micro-hybrid type, and corresponding micro-hybrid system

A micro-hybrid system () including an electric energy storage unit () and an electronic control unit (). The storage unit includes a plurality of elementary cells mounted in series. A method includes the steps of: reading the elementary electric voltages of the elementary cells; deriving information on the state of the storage unit from the read voltages; and taking into account in the control unit the state information for defining an optimal driving of the micro-hybrid system. An electric energy storage unit and a micro-hybrid system with braking recovery is also disclosed.
