An audio system and method for establishing wireless data connections between a case and at least one wearable audio device is provided. The audio system can establish a first wireless data connection between the case and the wearable audio device and establish a second wireless data connection between the case and the internet. The case, in addition to electrical energy storage capacity or battery bank capabilities, can directly communicate with the internet to receive update data directly from a remote server and can pass on update data to wearable audio devices without the need for a peripheral device such as a smart phone or tablet operating an affiliated software application. The audio system provided allows for information, data, and functionality to be passed between the wearable audio devices and cloud-based services, via the case, including social networking, messaging, music services, news, entertainment, and Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol (VOIP) communication services.

Methods and systems for communicating with device cases

A method for implementing a user interface (UI) control in a networked audio system that includes a plurality of audio playback devices that are adapted to play audio and that are operatively connected to a network over which audio data is delivered from a digital audio source to the audio playback devices, where the networked audio system further includes a control device that is operatively connected to the network and that has a display that is adapted to display a representation of a UI, and where the control device comprises an operating system (OS) and a native application program written for the control device OS, and memory. There is a local UI program that is stored in the control device memory. The local UI program is loaded in the control device when the native application is opened. The loaded UI is then displayed on the control device display.

User interface control in a networked audio system

A method of connecting a first computing device and a wireless access point over a first wireless network using a second computing device, where the first and second computing devices are both enabled to communicate over the first wireless network and are both enabled to communicate over a second, different wireless network, and where there are first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point. The method includes establishing a wireless connection between the first and second computing devices over the second wireless network, sending the first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point from the second computing device to the first computing device over the second wireless network, and then establishing a connection between the first computing device and the wireless access point on the first network using the first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point.
