An illumination source may be coupled to an image capture device through a connector. A light sensor is placed downstream of the connector to measure the light received by the image capture device from the illumination source. The light sensor provides the measurement of the received light to the illumination source for closed-loop control of illumination source. The light sensor may be positioned in a camera housing to take into account light attenuation from the illumination source to the camera. The light sensor may be positioned at other locations on the image capture device. Multiple light sensors may be positioned at different locations on the image capture device to detect sources or locations of attenuation. Redundant light sensors of more than one type of sensor may be used at a single light sensor location to provide for validation of measurements and increase the variety of information measured.

Closed-loop control of illumination in an endoscopic camera system

A system for identifying a location of a lumen of a tubular body structure in a patient's body includes a flexible, longitudinally extending probe configured to be inserted through the lumen in the tubular body structure in the patient. A detection system may include an antenna arranged to receive signals from a longitudinally extending detectable portion of the probe. A processing system may process the received signals and identify a longitudinally extending position of the longitudinally extending detectable portion of the probe in a three dimensional reference frame.

Tubular body structure imaging and locating system

An illustrative system includes first and second electrical circuits, a free space optics interface assembly, and a feedthrough assembly. The free space optics interface assembly may include an optical transmitter having an input that is electrically coupled to the first electrical circuit, and an optical receiver having an output that is electrically coupled to the second electrical circuit. The feedthrough assembly electrically connects the input of the optical transmitter to the first electrical circuit and includes a first conductive receptacle electrically coupled to a first input pin of the optical transmitter, a second conductive receptacle electrically coupled to a second input pin of the optical transmitter, a first conductive pad providing electrical connection of the first input pin of the optical transmitter to the first electrical circuit, and a second conductive pad providing electrical connection of the second input pin of the optical transmitter to the first electrical circuit.

Systems and methods for high-speed data transmission across an electrical isolation barrier

An exemplary medical system includes a first electrical circuit (-) on a PCB (), a second electrical circuit (-) on the PCB and electrically isolated from the first electrical circuit, and a free space optics interface assembly () on the PCB. The free space optics assembly includes a housing () defining a free space chamber () in the housing, an optical transmitter () having an input () that is electrically coupled to the first electrical circuit, and an optical receiver () in optical communication with the optical transmitter via the free space chamber and having an output () that is electrically coupled to the second electrical circuit. The optical transmitter and the optical receiver are hermetically sealed within the housing.
