A vehicle internal combustion engine arrangement includes an internal combustion reciprocating piston engine, and an exhaust line capable of collecting exhaust gases from the engine, a waste heat recovery system carrying a working fluid in a loop, in which the working fluid is successively compressed, heated in a heat exchanger by at least one engine fluid, and expanded in a first expander, a first compressor located in the exhaust line and mechanically connected to the first expander of the waste heat recovery system.

A power assembly includes an internal combustion engine including an air intake line and an exhaust gas line having at least one heat exchanger. The power assembly further includes a Brayton cycle system capable of providing additional power to the main internal combustion engine and that includes a gas compressor, a fuel burning heater and a turbine linked to the compressor so that air is drawn into the compressor where it is pressurized, the pressurized air is further heated by flowing through at least one heat exchanger where it exchanges heat with exhaust gases from the main internal combustion engine, the heated and pressurized air is further heated by the fuel burning heater and is thereafter expanded through the turbine where a first fraction of the work extracted by the turbine is used to drive the compressor and a second fraction of the work extracted by the turbine is used to bring additional energy.

The method includes storing gases in a vessel () at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure and, afterwards in injecting the gases into the intake pipe () in order to temporarily increase an inlet pressure during low-speed operation phases. The inventive device includes a connection for temporarily and alternately connecting the storing vessel () to an exhaust manifold () for recovering the gases during engine brake phases or to the intake pipe () during the temporary low-speed operation phases. The connection comprises a heat exchanger () mounted between the exhaust manifold () and the vessel ().
