A welding system includes power supply configured to provide a welding power output. The welding system also includes a welding helmet having an electronic display and an inertial measurement unit. The electronic display is configured to display a representation of the power supply and to display one or more indications of one or more parameters of the power supply. The inertial measurement unit is configured to detect movement of the welding helmet. The welding system also includes a processing system communicatively coupled to the inertial measurement unit and configured to adjust at least one parameter of the one or more parameters based at least in part on the movement of welding helmet.

Remote power supply parameter adjustment

A system and method for wirelessly controlling, monitoring, and updating various welding parameters from a remote device using a single remote control. The remote does not need to have the software to communicate with the welding-type system prior to initiating communications with the welding-type system. Rather, the welding-type system can provide a code download to the remote to perform an over-the-air programming of the remote to configure the remote to control the welding-type system.

Electric arc start systems and methods

A welding system having a weld torch, a first transmitting circuit, and a first receiving circuit is provided. The weld torch is coupled to a weld cable and is configured for a welding application. The first transmitting circuit includes a first processor and a sensor system with at least one sensor configured to detect sensor information related to the weld torch. The first processor transmits one or more control signals based on the received sensor information. The first receiving circuit includes communications circuitry and a second processor that receives the one or more control signals and generates information related to a trigger status based on the one or more control signals. The communications circuitry transmits the information to the wire feeder, and the wire feeder controls an operating parameter of the welding system based at least in part on the information related to the trigger status.

Systems and methods for communication via a welding cable

A welding system includes a welding power supply that provides a welding power for a welding application through the weld cable. Additionally, the welding system includes weld cable communications circuitry. The weld cable communications circuitry includes a receiver to receive data from the weld cable and to monitor the weld cable for frequency spurs or interfering signals, and to monitor network capacity. Additionally, and the weld cable communications circuitry includes a transmitter to transmit the data across the weld cable. Furthermore, the transmitter transmits the data via a physical layer transmission scheme selected based on the frequency spurs or interfering signals and the network capacity.
