A notebook including a plurality of sheets, each sheet having a width, an inner edge and a tear guide line that extends generally parallel to and spaced apart from an inner edge of the sheet. The notebook further includes at least one divider pocket having a pocket having a width substantially equal to the width of the sheets. Each sheet can be torn along its tear guide line to produce a torn sheet having a width significantly less than the width of the at least one pocket such that a number of torn sheets can be received in the at least one pocket.

A pouch for receiving loose items comprising a body having an outer surface and an inner cavity and a cord located on the outer surface for trapping loose items between the cord and the outer surface. The pouch further includes a stiffening element extending substantially about the perimeter of the body.

A divider for use in a binder having a binding mechanism, the divider including a generally rigid inner portion shaped to be coupled to the binding mechanism. The divider further includes a pocket outer portion, the outer portion being coupled to the inner portion and including an inner cavity for storing loose items.

A folder for receiving papers including a first side panel including a recess formed in an edge thereof, and a first lower panel facing the side panel. The first side panel and the first lower panel are joined to form a pocket therebetween, and the recess is located adjacent an open end of the pocket to enable the pocket to expand without tearing the first side panel.

A storage pouch has a pouch body and a cord. The pouch body encloses an interior cavity and has an opening in communication with the interior cavity. The cord is attached to the pouch body and has variable-size first and second loops located outside the pouch body, wherein increasing the size of the first loop decreases the size of the second loop, and wherein increasing the size of the second loop decreases the size of the first loop. The loops are made of substantially equal size to attach the storage pouch by the loops to the rings of a loose-leaf ring binder, and the size of one loop is enlarged to hang the storage pouch by the one loop on a larger hook.

An expandable outside pocket is provided on one panel of a binder. This pocket includes a releasable closure to control expansion of the pocket. In one configuration, the outside pocket includes a zippered gusset, where the zipper can be closed to prevent expansion of the pocket capacity. The gusset and zipper configuration enables the pocket to be expanded when it is desired to increase the size of the pocket in order to accommodate larger items such as books, but also enables the gusset to be held in a non-extendable position when the pocket does not need to be expanded, such as when the pocket is only used to carry papers or slim folders. A second zipper is preferably also provided in order to control access to the pocket. In another configuration, the outside pocket includes gussets along its sides which facilitate expansion of the pocket, and a single zipper provides access to the pocket interior when unzipped and also enables the pocket to expand when unzipped. The pocket can be expanded to provide simple access to the pocket interior, permitting convenient perusal of papers within the pocket without removal of the papers.

A system for mounting a component to a portfolio including a tongue located on the component, the tongue having a tail portion and a tip portion, and a portfolio having a tongue opening formed therein. The top can be inserted into the tongue opening and component rotated relative to the portfolio until the tongue is generally received through the tongue opening to couple the component to the portfolio.

A binder for receiving loose leaf papers including an upper panel and a binding mechanism coupled to the upper panel. The binder further includes a lower panel coupled to the upper panel such that a pocket is formed between the lower panel and the upper panel. In another embodiment, the invention is a binder for receiving loose leaf papers including an outer cover, a panel, and a binding mechanism coupled to the panel. The panel is coupled to the outer cover such that a pocket is formed between the panel and cover, wherein the cover foldable about the binding mechanism to lie on top of the pocket.

A paper sheet comprising a sheet having a first set of holes for receiving an external binder therethrough and a second set of holes for receiving an external binder therethrough. The second set of holes are laterally aligned with the first set of holes. The sheet further includes a set of perforations extending between the first and second set of holes such that a portion of the sheet containing the second set of holes may be manually separated from a portion of the sheet containing the first set of holes.

An adapter for coupling a piece of paper having a plurality of holes to a binding coil, the adapter comprising a strip of material having a plurality of attachment components. Each attachment component is shaped to be passed through one of the plurality of holes of the paper to couple the paper to the strip. The strip of material further has a quick attachment feature for releasably coupling the strip to the coil.

A folder for receiving papers or other loose articles comprising a side panel and a retaining tab made of a generally flexible material and mounted onto the side panel. The retaining tab has a pair of openings formed therein, the openings being shaped and located such that a writing instrument may be received therethrough such that the writing instrument is securely received in the retaining tab.
