A hearing protection device including a sound attenuating portion configured to be disposed within an ear canal of a user to obstruct a passage of sound, a channel formed through the sound attenuating portion configured to allow sound to pass through the sound attenuating portion when the portion is disposed within the ear canal, a tube disposed in the channel and configured to allow the sound in the channel to pass therethrough, and a filter disposed at one end of the tube and positioned at an interior of the sound attenuating portion, where the filter attenuates some of the sound passing through the tube.

The invention provides an earplug and a method of forming thereof where the earplug includes an insertion portion having opposing top and bottom sides, a handle portion connected to and extending rearwardly from the bottom of the insertion portion, and a rear portion extending from the top of the insertion portion to the handle portion, where the insertion portion is configured to be partially inserted into an ear canal of a wearer, where the handle portion remains at least partially extending from the ear canal for use in handling the earplug, and where the insertion portion and the handle portion are integrally formed of a resilient compressible material.

A hearing protection device. The hearing protection device includes a band and legs that are rotatable relative to the band. Each leg includes a first leg end and a second leg end. The first leg end is rotatably coupled to the band to allow the leg to rotate relative to the band. The second leg end includes a hole for receiving a stem of a hearing protector. Alternatively, the second leg end includes a socket for receiving a ball formed on a hearing protector shaft. The hearing protection device can accommodate head sizes ranging from the 5th percentile of women to the 95th percentile of men.
