A system for performing a molecular analysis workflow includes a reaction holder or a reaction substrate, such as a multi-well reaction plate, with a reaction holder/substrate RFID tag, and/or a reagent container with a reagent container RFID tag, and an instrument and/or device that includes an RFID reader/writer operable to read and/or write information to and from the reaction holder/substrate RFID tag and/or the reagent container RFID tag. The reaction holder/substrate RFID tag and the reagent container RFID tag can be utilized separately or together to send and receive and store information, for example, for a workflow of a molecular analysis, such as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Instruments, devices and consumables for use in a workflow of a smart molecular analysis system

The present disclosure relates, in some embodiments, to a system for measuring capillary electrophoresis current. The system includes a plurality of capillaries, where each capillary has a cathode end and an anode end. The system further includes a plurality of cathode buffers. Each of the cathode buffers is configured to be electrically isolated from the other cathode buffers. Further, each cathode buffer is associated with one capillary of the plurality of capillaries. The cathode end of each capillary is immersed in its associated cathode buffer. The system includes a plurality of current sensors, each current sensor associated with one capillary of the plurality of capillaries for measuring current. In some embodiments, the plurality of capillaries is four capillaries.

Capillary electrophoresis cathode systems and methods

A system for biological analysis includes a housing, a block assembly within the housing having a sample block and a baseplate, a heated cover and a cover carrier. The sample block receives a sample holder comprising an RFID tag. A first drive mechanism generates relative movement between the sample block and the baseplate along a first axis. A second drive mechanism generates relative movement between the heated cover and the cover carrier along a second axis that is different from the first axis. Based on a first command the first drive mechanism releasably engages the sample block and operates the second drive mechanism to releasably engage the heated cover with the cover carrier. The system also includes first and second RFID antennas that receive RFID data from the sample holder RFID tag that is read by at least one RFID reader.

Biological analysis system and methods

Various embodiments of a sequencing system capable of rapidly imaging samples at multiple wavelengths are provided herein. In one embodiment, the system includes a fast-indexing filter wheel having a plurality of excitation and emission filters capable of being rapidly rotated into and out of communication with an excitation source (e.g., an arc lamp, a laser. For example, the filter wheel can be configured to index in an amount of time falling within a range of about 40 ms to about 60 ms, preferably 50 ms. The system can also be configured to account for vibrations resulting from the quick starts and stops of the fast-indexing filter wheel as well as vibrations resulting from other sources. Various methods of rapidly imaging a sample at multiple wavelengths are also provided herein.

Each of the loops can comprise an electrical conductor that surrounds the same or a different fluid retainment region. A system is provided that includes a platen adapted to hold a device including fluid retainment regions and one or more electrical conductors in heat-transfer communication with the fluid retainment regions. Methods of heating a sample are also provided.
