Rotary microfluidic medical pump and pumping method embodiments are discussed herein that may be used for controlled delivery of small and precise volumes of therapeutic or non-therapeutic fluids in a variety of environmental conditions. Certain medical pump and pumping method embodiments discussed herein may also be useful for the controlled delivery of certain therapeutic fluids that may be susceptible to degradation when exposed to high levels of pressure, flow velocity, shear stress or the like. Training cartridge device and method embodiments discussed herein may be useful for familiarizing patients with the medical pump systems they are using.

Subcutaneous access hub embodiments are discussed herein that include housing embodiments having a plurality of cannula ports and a fluid passageway network that allows fluid communication between a fluid source and the plurality of cannula access ports. Such a configuration may allow a user such as a patient or clinician to releasably secure the housing to an outside surface of the patient's skin. Multiple locations on the patient's skin may then be accessed for deployment of one or more delivery cannulas via a plurality of cannula ports for delivery of fluid and from the fluid source to multiple subcutaneous locations below the patient's skin and timely movement of cannula access in the patient's skin without the need for relocating the housing.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for setting a dose of medicine and injecting the medicine. In one aspect, a method to dispense a medicine includes inserting a cartridge containing a medicine into a cartridge holder coupled to a housing of a medicine injection device, positioning a spine component of the device to make contact with the cartridge in the cartridge holder, selecting a dose of the medicine for injection, in which the selecting includes rotating an injection component of the device to a setting corresponding to the selected dose, and linearly advancing the injection component to rotate a drive gear coupled to the injection component to drive the spine component so as to push the end of the cartridge to dispense the medicine in the amount of the selected dose.

Systems, devices, techniques and methods are disclosed for implementing an actuator mechanism of an analyte testing device. In one aspect, a method to test an analyte includes advancing an analyte sensor from a first position within a sensor cartridge of an analyte testing device to a second position that exposes at least a portion of the analyte sensor outside of the device, advancing a lancet projecting component from an initial position to a cocked position for a subsequent projection of a lancet, in which the advancing the analyte sensor and the advancing the lancet projecting component are initiated by a single operation, projecting the lancet to expose at least a portion of the lancet outside of the device, receiving a testing sample including an analyte at the exposed portion of the analyte sensor, processing the testing sample to determine a parameter of the analyte, and ejecting the analyte sensor from the device.

A test unit cartridge for holding a plurality of test units includes a first test unit that contains a first analyte sensor and a second test unit that contains a second analyte sensor. The first and second analyte sensors use first and second reagents to detect first and second analytes, respectively. The first analyte is different from the second analyte and the first and second test units are functionally non-fungible. The plurality of test units can also include a third test unit that contains two analyte sensors having two reagents for detecting two different analytes using one fluid sample. A method of using the test unit cartridge is also described, which comprises loading the cartridge into an analyte testing device and cocking an actuator of the device that is configured to (i) expose an analyte sensor of a test unit, (ii) ready a lancet, and (iii) advance a lancet cartridge.

An analyte testing device includes an analyte sensor, a lancet, and a mechanism with an actuator that operates to independently expose the analyte sensor and advance the lancet into position for use. The analyte sensor is preferably included in an analyte sensor cartridge that houses a plurality of sensors. Similarly, the lancet is preferably included in a lancet cartridge that houses a plurality of lancets. The actuator can be a lever configured to expose the analyte sensor and advance the lancet into position with a single motion (e.g., pulling the lever). The actuator also preferably operates to cock a hammer in preparation for lancing a body member to draw a blood sample. The mechanism can be a linkage coupled with the actuator and configured to engage the analyte sensor and lancet.
