The invention provides a method and a device for recognizing traffic signs by a sensor system for recording the surrounding environment for a vehicle, which includes at least one camera sensor and one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor. Based on the data of the at least one radar sensor or LiDAR sensor, at least one element of the presence of a traffic sign, or the size of a traffic sign, position of a traffic sign, distance and/or orientation of a traffic sign, bridge-like structure, position and/or type of the vehicle ahead, position of lane delimiting structures is obtained and used for traffic sign recognition.

Method and device for recognizing traffic signs for a vehicle

A method for an overtaking assistant for a vehicle is provided. The vehicle is equipped with environment sensing systems for detecting objects in the own and an adjacent lane on the sides and at the rear of the vehicle. The space in front of the vehicle is preferably detected by environmental sensors as well. Autonomous cutting into an adjacent lane is only initiated if a first vehicle is detected in the adjacent lane. The first vehicle is taken as a reference for a speed of vehicles in the passing lane. It is also assumed that a second vehicle that approaches the first vehicle fast in the same lane has detected the first vehicle and will adjust its speed to the speed of the first vehicle.

A display system for a vehicle comprises a display mounted within a passenger compartment of a vehicle and at least one camera mounted to the vehicle and facing at least partially in a rear direction. The display shows the images recorded by the camera(s) to provide a rear view for the driver of the vehicle. A driver assistance system includes a sensor that detects objects and/or characteristics of objects in the surroundings of a motor vehicle, and an object recognition unit that evaluates data from the sensor to produce object information, and determines a confidence value indicating the probability of accuracy thereof. If the confidence value is greater than a minimum threshold but less than a predefined threshold, then the system displays the object information to the driver, who confirms or rejects it, e.g. by actuating or not actuating an operating element. Upon confirmation by the driver, the system begins or continues to perform a driver assistance function based on the object information. Upon rejection by the driver, the system does not perform or discontinues the driver assistance function based on the object information. If the confidence value exceeds the predefined threshold, then the system autonomously performs the driver assistance function.

The device has a bottleneck detection unit which is configured to detect bottleneck information for characterizing a bottleneck in which the vehicle is located. A fixed pattern noise of an image converter is automatically determined. A first optical image is converted using the image converter into digital image data, the light level of the first optical image is determined, the light level of the first optical image is compared with a threshold value, and the image converter characteristics of the image converter are reset to a dark image setting in such a way that the image data generated over the photosensitive imaging surface of the image converter at constant distribution of the determined light level include no component produced by the light level.
