An orthopedic surgical instrument for use in knee surgeries includes an elongated body, a pair of output shafts, and a user control. A first output shaft extends out from a first side of the body along a first output axis substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the elongated body. A second output shaft also extends out from the first side of the elongated body along a second output axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. The user control is coupled to the elongated body near a first end and the first and second output shafts are situated near the second end of the elongated body. Each of the first output shaft and the second output shaft are configured to turn independent of one another in response to operation of the user control. Various joint distractors for use with the orthopaedic surgical instrument are also disclosed.

Orthopedic surgical instrument for knee surgery

An orthopaedic surgical device for determining the joint force of a patient's knee joint includes a tibial paddle shaped to be positioned in the patient's knee joint and a handle extending from the tibial paddle. The tibial paddle includes a sensor array positioned therein and configured to generate sensor signals indicative of the joint force of the patient's knee joint. The orthopaedic surgical device also includes a control circuit configured to control a display located on the handle to provide a visual indication of the medial and lateral balance of the joint force.

Device and method for determining force of a knee joint

An orthopedic surgical instrument for use in knee surgeries includes an elongated body, a pair of output shafts, and a user control. An assembly includes a guide component having (i) a base defining a first passageway, and (ii) a handle attached to the base, the base including a first coupling component. The assembly further includes a first sheath defining a second passageway, the first sheath including a second coupling component configured to cooperate with the first coupling component to couple the first sheath to the base. The first passageway is aligned with the second passageway when the first sheath is coupled to the base. The assembly further includes a stop structure defining a central passage, the stop structure including an external surface having a plurality of keyways defined therein. The first sheath includes a key member configured to be selectively received in any one of the plurality of keyways. The stop structure is fixed in relation to the first sheath when the key member is positioned in any one of the plurality of keyways.

Guide assembly for use in a medical procedure

An orthopaedic surgical device comprises a first sensor component and a second sensor component. Each sensor component includes a paddle set to contact a proximal tibia and a distal femur of a patient. The first sensor component and the second sensor component being movable with respect to one another to extend one paddle set beyond the other paddle set, and each paddle set includes cutouts for the clearance of the patellar tendon to avoid the need to evert the patella during use.

An orthopaedic surgical device comprises a first sensor component and a second sensor component. The hip screw assembly also includes a barrel defining a cavity in the barrel. The barrel is fixedly secured to the plate. The screw including a portion thereof fitted in the cavity of the barrel. The hip screw assembly also includes a stop positionable in the barrel. The stop provides a limit on the movement of said screw in said barrel. The screw and the barrel have a first arrangement between each other in which the screw slides in the cavity of said barrel a first selectable predetermined distance and a second arrangement in which the screw slides a second selectable predetermined distance. The second distance is greater than the first distance.

The body has first and second ends opposed to each other and an inner periphery defining a longitudinal aperture through the body for slidably receiving the drill. The body is adapted to permit the drill to be positioned in the longitudinal aperture in a direction non-coincident with the longitudinal axis.

A bone fixation assembly includes a side plate for mounting on a bone and a barrel for receiving a portion of a lag screw, and configured to be inserted into a hole in the side plate. A mechanical spring located at the upper portion of the barrel biases a first detent portion toward a locking position with a second detent portion located on the side plate such that rotation of the barrel within the hole from a first position to a second position causes a compressing portion on the detent portion to contact a compressing portion on the second detent portion thereby compressing the mechanical spring so as to allow the barrel to be rotated to a third position wherein the mechanical spring is allowed to bias the first detent portion into the locking position such that a retaining portion of the first detent is adjacent to a retaining portion of the second detent and rotation of the barrel with respect to the side plate is restricted.
