A method characterizes a scanning light source configured to emit illumination propagating in any one of a plurality of directions spanning an angular range. The method includes (i) detecting, with a camera, illumination propagating at each of the plurality of directions; (ii) storing image data corresponding to a response of the camera to the detected illumination. The method also includes (iii) processing the image data to characterize at least one of the angular range, pointing accuracy, pointing jitter, a divergence of the illumination, a uniformity of the illumination, and a fidelity of a scanning pattern, formed by the scanning light source, to a predetermined pattern.

An apparatus for controlling an airbag module in a vehicle cabin is provided that includes a control apparatus for triggering the airbag module, a plenoptic camera configured as a camera module that generates image data having depth information within a prespecifiable region in the vehicle cabin with the prespecifiable region comprising at least a first and a second partial region of a trigger region of the airbag module, and an evaluation device which determines on the basis of the image data whether an object, in particular a vehicle occupant, is located in the first or the second partial region and the control apparatus controls the airbag module in dependence on the position of the object.

Apparatus for controlling an airbag module

A device and method for measuring a power density distribution of a radiation source is provided. The device includes a radiation source designed to emit a light beam in a radiation direction; a substrate disposed downstream of the radiation source in the radiation direction and having an extent in an x-direction and a y-direction, the substrate having a first region and at least one further second region, and the first region comprises a diffractive structure designed to separate the light beam impinging on the substrate into a zeroth order of diffraction and at least one first order of diffraction; and a detector unit disposed downstream of the substrate in the radiation direction and designed to measure the intensity of the first order of diffraction transmitted through the substrate and to derive a power density distribution therefrom.
