A method for broadcasting images from a video sequence, the method comprising, at the level of broadcasting equipment: including images in an output stream for transmission to at least one restoration equipment, receiving feedback from said restoration equipment of error messages relating to the restoration of the images from the video sequence, analyzing the error messages in order to identify images or parts of images not restored or badly restored and determining response messages including correction images or image parts. The method furthermore comprising determining a level of seriousness for each error message according to the analysis performed and deciding to return a response message relating to an error message according to the level of seriousness of that error message.

Use of a feedback channel for image broadcasting

A video coding method, comprising the following steps: a) successive images (F) of a video sequence are coded to generate coding parameters, b) the coding parameters are included in an output stream (&#x3a6;) to be transmitted to a station (B) including a decoder (), c) back channel information on reconstruction of the images of the video sequence by the decoder is received from said station, d) the back channel information is analyzed in order: d1) to identify a reconstructed image that includes a portion that has been lost in the decoder, d2) to identify in the subsequent coded images between said reconstructed image and a current image to be coded an image portion that refers to said lost portion identified in the step d1), e) said current image of the video sequence is coded in a coding mode that is a function of the identification or non-identification of a lost portion in the step d).

Video coding method and device

The invention relates to a method and a device for regulating the encoding bit rate of video images relative to a target image size). The images being subdivided into zones to be encoded, the complexity of encoding of each zone is distinguished among the zones, the zones to be encoded are classified according to a determined order of complexity, each zone is successively encoded according to the decreasing order of complexity, successively minimizing the estimated encoding error of each zone, the final size of each image relative to the target size and the bit rate of the sequence of video images. Application to the video encoding of images of video sequences, in particular to networked video surveillance.
