For the fitting of a hearing instrument, an audio signal of an ambient sound, recorded by way of an input transducer, is modified according to a multiplicity of signal processing parameters. Via a first classifier, a user of the hearing instrument is offered a plurality of problem descriptions for the user to select. By way of a second classifier, a proposed solution for modified values of the signal processing parameters is determined based on the user's selection of one of the offered problem descriptions.

Method for adapting a hearing instrument and hearing system therefor

A method for operating a hearing apparatus that has a microphone for converting ambient sound into a microphone signal, involves a number of features being derived from the microphone signal. Three classifiers, which are implemented independently of one another for analyzing a respective assigned acoustic dimension, are each supplied with a specifically assigned selection from these features. The respective classifier is used to generate a respective piece of information about a manifestation of the acoustic dimension assigned to the classifier. At least one of the at least three pieces of information about the respective manifestation of the assigned acoustic dimension is then taken as a basis for altering a signal processing algorithm that is executed for the purpose of processing the microphone signal to produce an output signal.

Method for operating a hearing apparatus, and hearing apparatus

A hearing apparatus has a microphone for converting ambient sounds into a microphone signal, a signal processor for processing the microphone signal and an output transducer for outputting an output signal. A characteristic voice measure is ascertained for a voice component in the ambient sounds, and a supplementary measure characteristic of an activity of the wearer of the hearing apparatus is ascertained. Subsequently, an evaluated correlation between the voice measure and the supplementary measure is used to increase a probability value for the presence of a communication situation between the user and a third party if the voice measure and the supplementary measure, under at least one prescribed criterion, assume a value representative of the presence of the voice component and of the activity of the wearer. The probability value forms the basis for altering a signal processing algorithm that is executed to process the microphone signal.

A method for reducing the latency period of a filter bank for filtering an audio signal. A large number of signal blocks in the time domain are formed from the audio signal, wherein for at least a plurality of the signal blocks in each instance a filter function is predetermined, at least one partial interval of the signal block is predetermined as a prediction period, signal components of the signal block in the at least one partial interval are estimated for the prediction period, and a predicted signal block is generated from the signal components estimated for the prediction period and from the signal components of the signal block outside the prediction period. The predicted signal block, filtered with the predetermined filter function, is transformed into the frequency domain to form a transformed signal block. Signal components of the transformed signal block are output for further processing.

Method for reducing the latency period of a filter bank for filtering an audio signal, and method for low-latency operation of a hearing system

A method of operation saves energy during the operation of a binaural hearing system having a left-hand hearing device and a right-hand hearing device. The method includes providing a left-hand internal input signal in the left-hand hearing device and a right-hand internal input signal in the right-hand hearing device. A sending mode of the left-hand hearing device and/or right-hand hearing device is activated and/or deactivated. The sending mode is therein activated in one of the hearing devices automatically in dependence on the respective internal input signal and the sending mode is deactivated in one of the hearing devices automatically in dependence on the respective internal input signal and of a communication signal received from the respective other hearing device.

Method for automatic activation and deactivation of a binaural hearing system and binaural hearing system

Signals free of wind noise should be made available with a short latency time in particular for binaural hearing device provision. To this end a method and a hearing apparatus are proposed, in which in a first branch with a first latency time the wind is analyzed and in a second branch with a shorter, second latency time the wind is reduced for a transmission signal.

A directional characteristic of a microphone facility of a hearing system is more reliably controlled. The method determines a first feature value in respect of speech in a first signal of a microphone facility assigned to a first direction and a second feature value in respect of speech in a second signal of the microphone facility assigned to a second direction. A control value is obtained from the difference of the two feature values. The directional characteristic of the microphone facility is controlled with this control value.

Method of controlling a directional characteristic, and hearing system

A method operates a hearing aid system and the hearing aid system has at least two hearing aid devices, between which a signal path is provided, and with at least one signal processing unit, which is provided to process audio signals. In the method the signal processing apparatus filters first audio signals with a filter predetermined for a defined spatial direction, from which a useful signal arrives, so that second audio signals are generated, in which the components of the useful signal in the second audio signals are equalized to a greater degree than in the first audio signals. The second audio signals are then filtered with an adaptive filter, so that third audio signals are generated, in which the components of the useful signal are equalized to an even greater degree than in the second audio signals.

Method for adjusting the useful signal in binaural hearing aid systems and hearing aid system

A hearing apparatus for a binaural supply contains a first earhook to be worn on one ear, having a plurality of microphones, and a first signal processing device which is configured to generate a local earpiece signal for an earpiece of the first earhook from microphone signals of the microphones by use of multichannel signal processing of each of the microphone signals. A beam forming device and a transmission device are additionally provided in the first earhook. The beam forming device is configured to generate a directional output signal from the microphone signals by signal processing which has fewer channels than that of the first signal processing device, and wherein the transmission device is set up to transmit the directional output signal as an electrical or electromagnetic signal from the first earhook.

Hearing apparatus for binaural supply and method for providing a binaural supply

A hearing aid system has at least two hearing aid devices to be worn on both sides of a wearer's head. The hearing aid devices have a transducer for picking up an acoustic signal and converting same into a first audio signal in each case. A signal processing unit processes audio signals received from each hearing aid device through a signal connection. The signal processing unit evaluates a signal component from a preferred direction in relation to the head of the wearer in the first audio signals. By way of the first audio signals the signal processing unit generates a first binaural directional microphone signal and adjusts its directional characteristic as a function of the evaluation.
