A cable coater system for a downhole tool includes a cable coater. The cable coater may include a housing and one or more rollers that are coupled to the housing, wherein the one or more rollers are configured to rest on the downhole cable while guiding the cable through openings in the cable coater during wireline operations. The cable coater may remain on cable during all spooling (on and off) activities for the duration of operations and activated to coat the cable upon the final pull out of hole and prior to storage of the cable. The spooling in and out of the cable may further be automatically controlled by providing a positional indicator of the cable coater and thus where the cable is in three-dimensional space relative the spool.

A downhole tool may include a high-voltage power supply disposed within a housing to transform input power to the downhole tool from a first voltage to a second voltage greater than the first voltage. The high-voltage power supply may include an array of capacitors, which may include multiple rows of capacitors. The rows of capacitors may be parallel with a symmetric cross section as viewed from an end of the array of capacitors. The high-voltage power supply may also include diodes electrically coupled to the array of capacitors.

A well-logging apparatus may include a charged particle source, a target electrode, and an accelerator column. The accelerator column may include a housing extending between the charged particle source and the target electrode, a series of spaced apart accelerator electrodes carried by the housing, a series of ring-shaped resistors surrounding the housing, and a respective connector coupling adjacent ones of the series of ring-shaped resistors together and to a corresponding one of the series of spaced apart accelerator electrodes.

Well-logging apparatus with ring-shaped resistors and related methods

An x-ray generator includes a voltage source and a voltage divider network coupled thereto, a housing, and an insulator carried within the housing. An emitter cathode is carried within the housing and emits electrons and undesirable conductive particles. In addition, there is a shielding electrode carried within the housing downstream of the emitter cathode and coupled to the voltage divider network. A target is carried within the housing downstream of the at least one shielding electrode. The voltage divider is configured so that the emitter cathode and the shielding electrode have a voltage difference therebetween such that an electric field generated in the housing accelerates electrons emitted by the emitter cathode to toward the target. The shielding electrode is shaped to capture the undesirable conductive particles emitted by the emitter cathode that would otherwise strike the insulator.
