A cooling roll including an axle and a sleeve, the sleeve having a length and a diameter and being structured as follows: an inner cylinder, a plurality of magnets disposed along at least a portion of the inner cylinder length, each magnet being defined by a width, a height and a length, a cooling system surrounding at least a portion of the plurality of magnets, the cooling system and the plurality of magnets being separated by a gap defined by a height, the gap height being the smallest distance between a magnet and the cooling system above, the magnets having a width such that the following formula is satisfied:gap height&#xd7;1.1&#x2264;magnet width&#x2264;gap height&#xd7;8.6.

A method for hot-dip coating of a steel strip running in a bath of liquid metal such as zinc, or metal alloy contained in a pan is provided. Dross which are formed during the coating and float at the surface of the bath are moved away from the surface of the strip by at least one inductor. Each inductor produces a sliding electromagnetic field oriented along a given direction and generates a magnetomotive force, and the magnetomotive forces displaced the dross towards a container intended to collect them and/or towards an area of the surface of the bath from which they are discharged. For at least one of the inductors, the direction of the respective sliding electromagnetic field is reversed intermittently so as to modify the flows of the dross inside the pan. A hot dip coating facility is also provided.

Gastight and vacuum-tight chamber intended to be used in a device for heating a product advancing inside the chamber by electromagnetic induction, characterized in that it comprises a gastight and vacuum-tight sheath made of an electrically insulating, gastight and vacuum-tight material, the inner faces of the sheath being protected by a heat shield consisting of a matrix of tiles made of a thermally insulating material and of a plurality of tubes cooled by the flow of a fluid, the latter being trapped in the matrix of tiles.

Vacuum and gas tight enclosure for induction heating system

A heating device for the electromagnetic induction heating of a metal strip traveling in a specified direction. The device includes at least one electric coil arranged opposite at least one of the large surfaces of the strip so as to heat the latter by transverse magnetic flux induction, each coil being associated with at least one magnetic circuit. Each circuit is divided into a plurality of magnetically independent bars arranged parallel to the direction of travel of the strip. The bars may moved toward or away one another thereby adapting to the width of the strip and distributing the magnetic flux across the width of the strip.
