A magnesium halide-supported titanium procatalyst, a catalyst prepared therefrom, an enhanced catalyst consists essentially of a product of a reaction of the magnesium halide-supported titanium procatalyst and a hydrocarbylaluminoxane. Also methods of preparing the (pro)catalysts, a method of polymerizing an olefin, and a polyolefin made by the polymerization method.

Magnesium halide-supported titanium (pro)catalysts

The instant invention is a polyethylene film, and method of making the same. The polyethylene film according to instant invention includes at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a density in the range of about 0.910 to about 0.930 g/cm, a molecular weight distribution in the range of about 2.8 to 3.8, a melt index (I) in the range of about 0.3 to about 4 g/10 min, and an I/Iratio in the range of 6.5 to about 7.8. The film has a normalized dart impact strength of equal or greater than (6666-7012*density) g/mil, a normalized tear strength of equal or greater than (440*e&#x2212;(density&#x2212;0.915)/2*(0.00949)) g/mil, and a haze in the range of 3 to 10 percent. The method of making the polyethylene film according to instant invention includes the following steps: (1) providing at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a density in the range of about 0.910 to about 0.930 g/cm, a molecular weight distribution in the range of about 2.8 to 3.8, a melt index (I) in the range of about 0.3 to about 4 g/10 min, and an I/Iratio in the range of 6.5 to about 7.8; (2) processing the heterogeneously branched ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer via blown film extrusion process or cast film extrusion process; and (3) thereby forming a film having a normalized dart impact strength of equal or greater than (6666-7012*density) g/mil, a normalized tear strength of equal or greater than (440*e&#x2212;(density&#x2212;0.915)/2*(0.00949)) g/mil, and a haze in the range of 3 to 10 percent.

Polyethylene films and method of making the same

The invention provides a comprising one or more ethylene interpolymers, and wherein the interpolymers, or the composition, has a melt viscosity from 1 to 30,000 cP at 177&#xb0; C., and wherein at least one ethylene interpolymer has an Rv from 0.3 to 0.99. The invention further provides a composition comprising at least one low molecular weight (LMW) ethylene interpolymer, and at least one high molecular weight (HMW) ethylene interpolymer, and wherein the composition has a melt viscosity from 1 to 30,000 cP at 177&#xb0; C., and wherein the sum of the Rv from the low molecular weight interpolymer and the high molecular weight interpolymer is from 0.3 to 2. The invention further provides for processes of making such compositions, processes for functionalizing the interpolymer(s) of such compositions, and articles comprising at least one component prepared from an inventive composition.

Low molecular weight ethylene interpolymers, methods of making, and uses thereof

The subject invention provides a process for preparing an olefin polymerization catalyst wherein a calcined and passivated silica support (support precursor) is sequentially contacted with a first solution of a metal complex or of a cocatalyst, and thereafter with a second solution of the other of the metal complex or the cocatalyst, wherein the second solution is provided in an amount such that 100 percent of the pore volume of the support precursor is not exceeded. Optionally, the compatible solvent of the first and/or second solutions is removed. The subject invention further provides a process for polymerizing one or more &#x3b1;-olefins in the presence of the olefin polymerization catalyst prepared by the process of the invention.

Process for preparing a supported polymerization catalyst using reduced amounts of solvent and polymerization process

A supported catalyst component for an olefin polymerization catalyst consisting essentially of a solid particulate support and a magnesium halide; and an olefin polymerization catalyst consisting essentially of a solid particulate support and a magnesium halide, a Group 4 or 5 transition metal compound, and a Group 2 or 13 organometallic compound, and wherein a majority of particles of the solid particulate support are in the form of an agglomerate of subparticles.

Supported olefin polymerization catalyst

A supported catalyst component for an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a solid particulate support, a magnesium halide, and optionally a Group 4 or 5 transition metal compound, a Group 2 or 13 organometal compound, and an electron donor, wherein a majority of particles of the solid particulate support is in the form of an agglomerate of subparticles.
